My review is only going to be about the theatre and our seats. This was at least my third visit and I've always sat in the balcony. Had this last visit been upstairs, I would have gladly given this review 5 stars, but we spent extra and sat downstairs which was a mistake. Based on this last experience, I only wanted to give 1star, but did three as an average. Pay attention to this if you are buying tickets. Unlike other theatres where there is a gradual incline in the floor to give you stadium seating, the Midland is tiered. I believe there were six tiers. Each tier is flat and raises up about a foot from the tier in front of them. Since the tiers are flat, you could have tables and chairs and use this like a reception, but if you are interested in seating that faces the stage, it doesn't work. We were in tier three (around the middle of the downstairs) which is about eye level with the performers on the stage. Unfortunately we were in one of the last rows of our tier, so the seven or so rows ahead of us that were also at the same height and also eye level with the stage completely blocked our view. Keep in mind that unless you are in the first row or two of your tier, your view will be obstructed. Maybe the tiers below us could see since they were below the stage and would be looking up. I would also like to add that although the folding chairs are padded, they are brutal on the butt. I'm also hoping that they figure out the temperature. It was cold out, which meant as the doors opened to let people in, the lobby was chilly, but this lead to overcompensation. The warm theatre became uncomfortably hot once the doors closed and we were dressed for cold weather. Do yourself a favor and either buy your tickets over the phone or at the box office so you can find out where your seats will be, or either sit in the balcony or way down front. Their online tickets are not helpful in figuring out if your seats are at the front or back of the tier. I guess if you can't see the stage, you can look around the theatre. It is a very...
Read moreI attended a show at The Midland on 11/11/22 and was treated very poorly by the staff during the intermission of the concert. I approached a member of the staff and asked if I could be let into the private medical office that is listed on their website as being available to women who need to pump during the show. Initially, the staff member tried to tell me no such place existed and that I would need to pump in the (dirty and very crowded) bathroom or in the equally as crowded sitting area that you walk through to get into the restrooms. When I mentioned that the website clearly said there was somewhere other than a restroom I could pump in, she then called over not one but two other staff members to consult about what I was asking. They whispered while giving me rude glances for multiple minutes before taking me to the medical office. When we got there, a young man was inside the office working (which the website stated would be possible and I had no issues with), and I was simply told that no, I would not be permitted to use that room seeing as he was in there, despite the website clearly saying that I could use the room, but that I needed to be comfortable with a member of medical staff being in the room. By the time I was finally told to just go to the bathroom, intermission was over and I had to return to my seat if I wanted to enjoy the rest of the show I paid for. I spent the rest of the show in immense pain from being unable to pump (which is a medical need that can result in serious infections and abscesses if not done in time), and felt so degraded and embarrassed by the way I was treated. The concert I had been so looking forward to was ruined by the experience, and I will not return to the venue for any future shows if that is the way they are going to treat and accommodate...
Read moreWould love to give 5 stars. It is a beautiful venue. But two things really took away from an awesome night. Went to see Joe Bonamossa. Awesome show!!!!. And as usual his show started right at 8pm. The problem is the doors did not open till 7pm. That means the theater had one hour to get everyone in the hall. We got there at 7:15 and stood in one of the long two lines and still did not get into the theater till 8:15. They only had two areas where you could come through, and only two guards checking bags. I heard others mention they did not get into the show till 8:45 because of the long lines. When you spend that kind of money there is no excuse that you can not get into the show on time.
The other thing that bothered me. We had seats on the floor. They were thin folding chairs. Not very comfortable. But what was hard for me is that I am broad shouldered and the seats are so narrow, I felt cramped most of the show.
Still would give 5 stars if they did not force people to stand in the long cold lines because of the slow security check at door. I am sure this is not their first venue and they should have been prepared for the size of the crowd.
Sorry to be so negitive, but people spend their hard earned money to see an event like this. The owners need to be more respectful towards their patrons. I would think twice about going to this venue again. I hope Joe finds another place to play next time...
