āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø Easily the best part of my trip to KC! Whenever I travel for work, one of the things I look forward to most is diving into the local food scene. When I was in KC for a week, I had a full list of spots I wanted to try. But for the first time I can remember… I didn’t make it past one place. After some quick math, out of maybe 14 breakfasts and dinners that week… I ate here 11 times. Eleven. Times. Why would anyone possibly do that? Well, have one meal here and you’ll understand. The menu is insane—like ā€œI want one of everythingā€ insane—and the execution is flawless. Every single dish comes out looking like a work of art. A few personal standouts: the chopped club, mushroom Benedict, banana bread French toast, lamb sliders, and the steak vegetable bowl, Tenders, Brie. I’ve worked in kitchens, and this was genuinely one of the most impressive displays of culinary detail I’ve ever seen. But here’s the crazy part: the food wasn’t even the best thing about this place. The people are. On a good day at most restaurants, you might remember your server’s name. Here? I swear I know 80% of the staff—Blue, Franky, Lucas, Lauren, Nicole, Brittani, and Franky’s mom (the sous chef!). Every single one of them is kind, hardworking, and somehow makes you feel like family. I’m leaving KC today, and honestly, what I’ll miss most isn’t the BBQ or the skyline—it’s my friends at Dott Boss. An incredible culinary experience, only surpassed by even more incredible people. ā¤ļø P.S. Please come visit us in Canada. I’ll cook for you this time. šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

We stayed at The Hotel Indigo and didn’t know this place was attached to it. We received vouchers with our stay for free breakfast (up to $17 per person) and were pleasantly surprised about the food. Breakfast: The egg sandwiches were huge and the bagels were soft. The potatoes are the best. Perfectly seasoned and a little bit of crunch. The French toast was a good portion and super tasty. Again, the breakfast potatoes šŸ‘Œ Yogurt and jam was a little bland but if you’re into not so sweet, this could work for you. The breakfast tacos were on the money! Definitely give these a try. So much flavor and good portion. The eggs Benedict was tasty and a good portion. Best part are those potatoes with it! Dinner: Nachos were ehhhh, not very good in my opinion. Just very basic and no shine to them. Alfredo dish was really good and the portion was great. Super tasty and not tooo creamy and we added the broccoli for some added flavor. Tenders salad was very basic and not worth the price. Drinks: Bloody Mary was made just right and hit the spot for an early morning pick me up. Mimosa was mixed perfectly and tasted great. All in all we had great experiences dining here. The food for the most part was good and the plate portions are generous. I think the prices are a little high but I guess that’s the trend in downtown Kansas City! Give this place a try.

Traveling through Kansas City, I decided to stay at the Hotel Indigo. I was happy to discover this restaurant was at the bottom level of the hotel! Upon first entering for breakfast, I was immediately impressed by the grandeur and historic feel of the place. It is a very unique feeling to eat in a place where so many others have been before you. I quite liked it and felt that the restaurant meshed well with the existing building. For my order, I just went with the simple breakfast sandwich, which was served on my favorite, an everything bagel. The egg was served over medium, and the yolk made a delicious mess of the sandwich. It was absolutely delicious, and I have no notes. The "breakfast potatoes" were potato wedges, which was unexpected, but they tasted good and were cooked well. Potato wedges are not my favorite, but I have no complaints. I also met a very lovely man who works here and we had a great conversation although I must confess that I didn't fully understand all of it 🤣 This is a great place to eat if you're staying at the Hotel Indigo or just in the neighborhood!

There is a gentleman that works the evening shift as a bartender that waited on me, his attendance in serving me was not great, to say the least, he seemed to be more interested in his phone so much so that I had to ask a back waiter to have him come and refill my water and cocktail ( the restaurant had one other table beside myself). I left a hand written comment on the receipt about how bad the service was, which I assume he destroyed...regardless, the bartender had 3 opportunities since, to rectify the situation. I am a guest in the hotel (downtown Hotel Indigo), and have interacted with other co-workers that were dining in the restaurant when I was not. He stood right in front of me and made a conscious decision to not address the situation from nights earlier to apologize for the atrocious behavior on his part, and yet nothing was said. I would have clearly forgiven the bad service had he shown the slightest remorse with his attitude toward me (especially since the comments I wrote on the receipt), but no. I came into the restaurant tonight for dinner, not seeing him working, but after ordering a drink and dinner, he came out from the back. The young lady with glasses who did wait on me at the bar tonight was extremely accommodating and very gracious. Unfortunately, I did not trust that my food had not been tampered with in a malicious manner, and therefore could not trust that my food was safe But the fact that he had, for the third time, an opportunity to explain his behavior towards me, and apologize, he choose not to. I left, not touching my entree, but paid my bill in full. I had to get a deli sandwich from Cosentino's for my dinner, so, needless to say I paid my bill with a full %20 tip, and still had to purchase additional food because your employee can't be an adult and do his job. I don't know what is going on in his life, but the professionalism is unbelievable! It could have been over and done with by simple apology, but he decided to not address the situation, which is unbelievable, hence this comment. I've been here for almost three weeks as a guest and spent over $500 in Dott Boss, I had hoped for a pleasant stay, but this has been some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

Very disappointed... Scott C,...

Landed in KC from Minneapolis early Friday morning and we got brunch at Dott Boss. Adam was out bartender and he was as friendly as could be, extremely welcoming and made us feel as though we had been coming there for years. Biscuits and gravy were top notch, super fluffy biscuits. We also got some breakfast tacos and they were superb.

We met a patron there who mentioned going to the KC Royals baseball game that night and that ended up being our evening activity.

Then Sunday morning came and we were deciding on food for brunch. No doubt in my mind that Dott Boss was the way to go, yet again šŸ˜Ž When we got there it was much busier than the Friday prior but that made no difference to our experience. Adam was once again behind the bar and he not only remembered us but grabbed our drinks without us having to utter a word. Greeted with a smile and a sense of home, we tossed back a few drinksbefore I ended up ordering the Shrimp and Grits Benedict. Absolutely phenomenal!!!!!!! My partner in crime got the biscuits and gravy again because it was THAT good.

So yeah, 10/10 would recommend coming to Dott Boss for breakfast/brunch whether KC is your hometown or if you're like us and just were in town for a visit.

Adam, if you ever see this, let it be known you've got a customer for life šŸ¤— I hope we cross paths again! Thanks yo you and the Dott Boss crew for an awesome...
