The food is excellent at Rudy's if and when they actually get your order correct. The problem is that this seldom happens. For example, I ordered a chicken burrito tonight for a carryout order and instead of getting the chicken burrito I ordered when I got home I opened the container to find a empty enchilada shell that bore a close resemblance to a flattened gym sock with a dab of red sauce splattered on top of it. Now, they get my order wrong every other time I order carryout there so shame on me for not checking the bag before I left this time(I was in a hurry and carelessly forgot which was my mistake) but this seriously occurs literally every other time we order from there. You might be wondering why it is that we keep going back and giving them 2nd, and 3rd, and 4th chances since they screw up our order so often(with astonishing frequency actually) which would bring me back to what I said at the beginning of the review when I mentioned how good the food is when they actually get it right. If you order from Rudy's (especially if you get it to go) then just know that you have about a 50/50 chance of getting the right food or what you paid for and you can be sure that the one time you forget to check the bag will most certainly be the time that they get your order wrong, which is beyond irritating to say the least. The food is great, the staff is friendly, but the order accuracy and consistency flat out sucks. We live close by and have been getting carryout from Rudy's for a very long time but after staring at that sad, soggy, measley little enchilada that I saw tonight instead of the delicious chicken burrito I was expecting I am finally calling it quits on Rudy's and will never again give them a dime of my money. It's been a good run Rudy's, but you've screwed me over for the last time. How does that saying go? Fool me once, shame on you..Fool me 5,213 times..well, you know...
Read moreUse to be my go to for Mexican food. I would bring people here anytime they visit. But today was terrible. I ordered 6 tacos with shredded beef. Easy enough, my family ordered their food. Waiting over 10 minutes they then come out to let me know they don’t have any shredded beef, all out, but brought the rest of the table’s food out. They suggested a different meat, I said I’ll do 2 tacos to see how they are before I order the rest. They brought out 2, and they were kind of bland. But it wasn’t the worst and I was very hungry. I was going to go ahead and get the rest of my order made, but they never asked about it. Never asked if I liked them, just brought out the check and that’s it. My brother ordered chicken fajitas, said the chicken was dry, bland, and rubbery. And something burned the inside of his mouth and now it hurts constantly. Honestly disappointed. I use to always say they were the best in the whole city, but now I definitely won’t say that again. They did not care about us, just our money. If they cared, they would have said something before bringing out the meals at the table. I left still hungry, so no, I can’t and won’t recommend this place anymore.
So I have to suggest trying somewhere else that you haven’t been to, because they aren’t as good as they use to be. So very sad, driving from the northland to get good food, just to spend a ton on bland junk. You lost a long time...

She was sweet, but forgot half of the things we asked for. Two people ordered chimichangas, and they were luke warm, while one friend found a part of the lettuce core in her food. I always order the crispy beef tacos and they were solid as ever and have gotten back to the original size they were before I complained about them suddenly being smaller. At the end of the day, this confirmed our prior departure from this old favorite. It makes me sad, but we won't be back.
Things have changed. This used to be my favorite taco Tuesday spot, but recently it's just meh. I swear the beef tacos have shrunk, you have to order a shot of tequila for the house marg's because they are so weak, the frozen margs aren't even on happy hour anymore and they nickel and dime you for everything. The spinach dip is really hit or miss. They missed last night. And I got a chicken taco that was really dry and luke warm. The cheese wouldn't even melt.
My group of girlfriends routinely gather here when I'm in town, but last night we decided it's time to move on. There are too many amazing Mexican restaurants in KC to...
