I decided to eat a late lunch here recently and arrived with a party of 3. The service was very slow, it took almost 10 minutes just to order because every item I wanted to order, the lady had to keep going back to see if they have it. When I ordered the peanut soup, the lady had to call someone else on the phone to see if they have it, which is ironic to me. I feel bad for everyone else that had to wait after our order because it seemed like nobody else was being helped as it took a while to prepare the food. Overall the food was very disappointing. Suya wings were very dry, and was not hot when it came out. Peanut butter soup had these chicken wings inside it that was very tough and rubbery. It was almost too salty, but the only dish that seemed to have any seasoning. The jollof was ok, very unique and smokey flavor, and was probably my favorite from everything else. Goat meat was very tough and lukewarm when it hit the table. Gizdodo, the chicken gizzard dish, had good flavor but very tough meat. I can understand if it's like that to be authentic but there's many ways to make the meat to where you can actually chew it. Plantains were cold and weren't even cooked all the way.
I didn't want to leave a bad review for this place, because I was happy to pay $115 for lunch. And even though it was a disappointment, I would've just not choose to drive here again. It's because the front lady asked me if I had cash for the tip, and I did. I handed her $20 and she didn't even say thank you. That left more of a bad taste than the food. Maybe it was bad timing, but the from what I experienced, the customer service (and food) can be improved greatly. I will probably never come...

The owner is nice and personable. Customer service is great. A little slow.
I wish that the food was spicier and that they served pepper sauce with the puff puff, meat pies and samosas.
I loved the Amala and Abula. Such a Yoruba delicacy.
The best jollof rice that I have ever had at a restaurant.
Chicken legs is fresh. But the samosas are fried too hard. Puff puff too oily and should be asked if wanted sprinkled with powder sugar. Because I'm used to eating it as savory with kala/ pepper sauce not as a dessert.
I also asked for pepper to go but was given tomato. Some of us Americans know Nigerian cuisine. Don't play us.
Need more drink selections such as juices
Overall will come again. Thank you for using authentic Nigerian spices such as crayfish.
I love that they let you get half half soups. My sister got half okra and half egusi because she couldn't make up her mind.
I also love the bowls she serves food out of and the takeaway bowls. She gives plenty of food for sharing portions.
Edit: I spend like $200 to $500 here every month. I don't know if it's the new chef's but I hate the burnt plantains. Too sweet. Even when I ask for the plantains to be green and not ripe or dodo. I threw 3 orders in the trash today. 4/2/25!
Also the meat is lacking. I've been getting all bones and little soup portion due to big gigantic bones. I know that the business is successful and thriving but I wish she would be more...
Read moreWent with a date this Thursday, neither of us have any experience with Nigerian food.
To start, the building is in an unfortunate location, difficult to get to due to all the one way roads. There is a parking lot in the back if you are willing to brave the tight turn and narrow entrance, otherwise you have to find street parking and walk.
The space is small, bright, and cheerful. The staff were friendly and took the time to explain the menu and answer questions. The service itself was a little stilted, which is to be expected with a new business. Between us we ordered a chicken pie, jollof rice with beef, chicken drumsticks, and egusi soup with fufu, as well as bottled water (bottled drinks seem to be the only options).
The chicken pie was delightful, with a solid pastry and tender, seasoned shredded chicken. Rice very well seasoned, and quite a large portion. Beef and chicken were cooked well, both tender and having well-rendered fat with a rich, tangy tomato sauce that was just a tad salty for my preference. Both the owner and one of the other staff came out to make sure we were eating the soup and fufu correctly, which was an experience itself. The soups are flavored with fish/fish sauce and it is not subtle, so I would not recommend if you're not very into that.
Overall, it was an interesting experience and I hope they are able to stick around a while. I would go back and try a few...
