Actually incredible food. My wife and I have been around the world and this was literally one of the best breakfasts I've ever had (the Nebraska Bene). I was shocked. I did not expect to find food this good in Kearney, Nebraska but there I was - a grown man crying over some eggs Benedict with hollandaise sause and the most exquisitely cooked pork short rib brisket.. I must stop, for tears again spring to my eyes.
The coffee is also very good, not the typical diner quality. Atmosphere and decorations in the restaurant were very modern. Our server.. well I wouldn't invite her over for dinner or anything but again - it's all about the magic those good folk are making happen back in that kitchen where they cook the pork short rib... Nope, still can't think about it without sobbing uncontrollably knowing that we're only passing through and I shan't be enjoying Nebraska Benedict on the regular from Good Evans. Also not sure why it's "Good Evans" when it quite clearly should be called "Great Evans" or "Amazing Evans" or "Glorious Evans on High."
I must be done. I'm out of Kleenex and now must dab my tears with only the memory of the finest restaurant breakfast I've ever consumed in the great state...
Read moreMy wife and I went in for breakfast about 8:30am on a Monday, and there were already several groups of people eating. The hostess was friendly, as was our server. The entire restaurant has a nice, clean country kitchen feel to it, withe real wood tables and chairs, and a white and black theme to the wall decorations. The large windows make it feel open and airy, and our booth was comfortable. The breakfast menu has a variety of breakfast staples, and some nice unusual options. They have a variety of egg benedict options, as well as omelettes, and pancakes and french toast. The service was swift, and our food came out in good time. My wife opted for the shrimp grits, which were served with andouille sausage slices and gravy, and she declared it delicious. I had one of the best country fried steaks I have ever had, topped with sausage white gravy with over easy eggs and nicely seasoned hash browns on the side. It was wonderfully breaded with, I believe, panko bread crumbs, and the crunch held up well to the gravy for my whole meal, which was admittedly short, because it was so good. I believe this is the best breakfast place in Kearney, and I look forward to going...
Read moreService was great, very prompt but not rushed. The servers carry little handhelds so your order gets put in as you speak it, which I'm sure accounts for the speediness of your dining experience. The menu isn't a novel like some other breakfast places and rest assured they have at least one of your favorites. My latte caught me off guard at how good it was. Coffee snobs will be equally, pleasantly surprised. To eat, I had the Nebraska Bene, which I highly recommend to really anyone with taste buds, and it came out quickly and at a pleasant temperature. Hash browns were crispy sans burnt bits, eggs were perfectly cooked, English muffins were properly crisp. Everything else was cooked well and the dish was well balanced. Normal diner pricing, I guess? Everything is going up so quickly right now, it's hard to get a fair price. I certainly wasn't upset with my bill and we will leave it at that. This is a really cozy place, taking your boring diner breakie and bringing it to a proper...
