I revisited a staple of my hometown tonight, Athens Pizza in Keene, New Hampshire, after years of living in Nashville, Tennessee. Stepping back into Athens was like taking a walk down memory lane, as I was greeted with the same exceptional flavors I remembered from my youth.
Unfortunately, there was a minor hiccup with our pickup order—we received a pepperoni and a sausage pizza instead of the cheese and pepperoni pizzas we ordered. However, the team at Athens was prompt to realize the mix-up and reached out to correct it. This is where a slight misunderstanding turned into a delightful surprise. Believing that they were sending a complimentary pizza to make up for the error, I was met with a bit of confusion when the delivery driver arrived and wanted to exchange the pizzas. Despite the miscommunication, the driver showcased utmost professionalism and kindness by giving us the extra pizza at no charge due to the confusion.
I owe Athens Pizza an apology for the misunderstanding on my part, but this experience only reaffirmed my appreciation for their dedication to customer service. As for the pizzas, all three were outstanding. The crust, the sauce, and the perfectly melted cheese—everything was just as fantastic as I remembered, capturing the essence of my childhood pizza experiences.
Returning to Athens Pizza after so many years was a reminder of the consistency and quality that this local gem has maintained. Mistakes happen, but it’s the way they are addressed that truly shows the character of a business. Athens Pizza, you have my sincere gratitude for not only a nostalgic meal that took me back to the good old days but also for handling a simple mistake with exceptional customer care. Five stars for the pizza and the people of...

Read moreWe just moved to the Keene area from Connecticut where Greek Pizza houses are like a religion. We were looking for our new "go to" place and we heard this was the place so we gave it a go. In short; the food was alright, not great, not terrible but alright. We ordered a Large pizza, Greek salad, fries and some soft drinks. Their large is what we would call a medium in Connecticut, their Family size would be a large. Lots of crust on this pizza, meaning the sauce, cheese and topping don't go very far up. everyone ate about two-thirds up the slice. I need just enough crust to hold the slice, the rest I want edible. The Greek salad was pretty good but cheap, no Delmathas, just three olives, one pepperroncini, If I'm going to pay $8 plus dollars for a Greek salad I want some love put into it. The fries were good, no complaint there. My main knock for those who don't know is that this pizza palace is self-serve?? As soon as you come in the door you walk into a dozen people blocking your way trying to place an order. Numbers are continually being called out like you are eating in a Bingo hall. No waitress coming over with a nice greeting and some placemats and crayons for the children. Just cheep plastic tray and paper plates and do it yourself. When we left, I asked my wife what she though and she "It was alright...but stressful." I think that pretty much sums it up. In all fairness, they did a very swift business while we were there but not the...
