We decided to take my mother in law to this saltgrass for her birthday. We live in Austin and this is the first salt grass that disappoints. Let’s start from the beginning. We were guided to our table and this is the only time we can say we were actually cared for when we asked to have a table by the window and they made it work for us. When we sat down a guy took our drinks and appetizers, NO introduction or anything he just said I’m not your waiter but I’m just taking your drink and appetizers. We ordered two teas and a water and decided to try the chips and queso for the first time. When he came back My mom in law’s cup had RED lipstick all over it!!!! That was disgusting I’m pretty sure you can see that from a far while serving the tea. Then 30 mins later I was so mad and made a face and another waiter came to me and asked if I was ok and I said we have been waiting for a long time and got our drink but not our appetizer. The appetizers should be at the table with our drinks way before the food. The guy went to the kitchen took another while talking and having a blast in the kitchen with the other waiters but we finally got it. Great taste can’t complain on that. Another family of four got their drinks bread and appetizers before us and got there way after us. Then finally we meet our waiter that didn’t even say his name and we ordered our food. He took forever to bring out just the two salads then brought them and kind of threw them on the table and walked away, NO croutons on them. I had to get up and go to the kitchen and ask for croutons. Again can’t complain on the taste that’s why I rated them a ONE just for the COOK. We got our food after waiting for over an hour and it was good. The chopped stake it’s the only thing we didn’t like, the salmon and the grilled chicken were great. All this happened and not even once did we get a refill on anything they had to drink from my water and the waiter was just talking to another guy by the kitchen. I was furious at this point because they weren’t professional at all. Very disappointing that that was my in-laws 62nd birthday dinner experience. I left a tip because I was a waitress and I know how much tips mean but my husband did not want me to leave anything. The only time we saw our waiter again was one fast walk by and he asked if we were good and we were gonna ask for water but he had already left and the next time was when we asked for the check and there he actually took his time to talk to me about the discount I received with my Landry’s Select club card but explain that the actual bill was $81 not $54. Pretty sure he just wanted a tip based on the $81. Anyways not a good experience so for sure not going back or...
Read moreMy Husband and I had Our 23rd Anniversary Dinner this evening and Our Experience was Absolutely Amazing!!!! From the time we Entered the Restaurant til the Friendly Anniversary Well Wishes. Our Waiter was David. He was Very Kind, Professional, Attentive, Concerned, Friendly and Thoughtful! We Never had to ask for anything because he was consistently checking in on Us to see if we Wanted or Needed Anything. Here is where He Went Above and Beyond for Me as a Customer. We asked for To-go Containers (4). When he came to bring them, he had his serving try, the containers and bags. He offered to put Our Food in the containers! I was So Impressed with that because out of my almost 57yrs of eating out, No One has EVER done that! I asked him if he could get a Manager for me, he simply said "Yes Ma'am". Now I'm more than sure he thought something was wrong....but it wasn't. The Manager, John came to our table asking was everything ok. I said to him, "Everything was Perfect. David was Absolutely Remarkable in serving us this evening"! May I also acknowledge two other employees of the restaurant. Unfortunately, I didn't get their names, but it's really the little things that I pay attention to when I'm out for a meal! We were sitting there and the young lady (waitress) passed by us, back stepped and asked if someone had served us yet (David had already taken care of our drink order and appetizer). The fact that she just acknowledged us just sitting there, not knowing, but yet concerned if someone had served us.... Pretty Amazing Young Lady (that really Mattered). The next person I would like to acknowledge is a young man (a different waiter, not assigned to us), passed by and saw My Husband Struggling to get a picture of us. He stopped and offered to take the picture for us! How Thoughtful and Considerate is that!!! Friendliness and Kindness goes a long way to me these days. We live in a very busy world and I've never worked in the environment of being a Host or Hostess (I don't think I have the Personality for it). However, I do Respect the Hustle of it All and I Pay Attention to those who Pay Attention to Me! Dinner at Saltgrass this evening Was The Best Experience I've Ever Had in a Restaurant....EVER! John, your staff that we encountered this evening, Deserve a Standing Ovation (a Raise, a Day Off, a Longer Break, a Gift Card .. something to let them know that Today (on My Anniversary) They Are Appreciated.....And the Food was Great Too (Fried and Grilled Shrimp, Fried Mushrooms, Broccoli with Cheese, Salad and My Husband ordered an Alcoholic Beverage)! Thanks Again David, You Are an Awesome Young Man and We Really Appreciated Your Service...
Read moreToday 10/18/22 Me and my friend came here for dinner for his birthday. I have been coming here since I was a kid old enough to be dropped off at kemah by myself. After visiting tonight I will NEVER be returning to this location or giving them a penny. The service we received tonight was unbelievably horrible to say the least I am a server myself at a near by restaurant and would be fired on the spot for the service we received this evening. To begin we got here sat and weren’t greeted for 5 minutes before our drink order was taken. Soon another women came by asking for our drink order. 10 minutes passed and nothing. We still hadn’t received our drinks. After this we were told we would receive bread that didn’t come till our food came out. Like any restaurant your salad is normally the first to come out. In our case it was the very last. I also asked for a salad with no cheese because I am lactose and tolerant and what’s it come out with? A lot of cheese… along with both our steak and sides being cold. I asked for A1 sauce and she brought and empty bottle???? And this service WAS not because it was busy there were a total of maybe 8 tables at most. It’s a Tuesday night NOT BUSY. my salad sat on the table for 15-20 minutes before a manger came by to check on customers when I told her that my salad was incorrect and I expressed to her that the service we received was nothing short of horrible she honestly didn’t seem to care and didn’t have much to say. This location have serious issues. Please consider picking somewhere else. Not to mention when we thought out server was headed our way to check on us she’d return to the table next to us but not check up in us. A table of two gentleman were sat near us who heard me talking to the manger and they had sat there for SEVERAL minutes with no drinks I told them “if no one’s come to yall I would leave because I wish we would’ve” I am 19 along with my friend. I would normally say our service was bad because we are young and the server thought maybe we wouldn’t tip but we are both servers and know to appreciate the service we are given. Our bill came to $62 and it was discounted 15% but honestly I personally don’t that was enough. I left with my steak in a Togo box because by the time we got a new bottle of A1 sauce my steak was cold. Not to mention we never once got a refill. Very sad to see a good place like this go down hill the way it did. HORRIBLE TAKE MY ADVICE AND EAT SOMEWHERE...
