I was excited to try this place, and finally was able to get the chance. Unfortunately it wasn't the greatest experience. Everyone was nice, and this is not a reflection of the service itself.
I ordered 2 birria tacos. First, the menu has "Smoked Brisket Birria" on the menu for $15. I thought this meant tacos, but it means it's a bowl of birria with tortillas. Birria tacos are a la carte. No big deal. I ordered 2. Only 1 came out, and I actually cancelled the 2nd one due to the food itself. I've had a lot of birria, but this was not like anything I'd had before. To me, the flavor was really sweet, and the brisket texture was offputting for birria. It was almost like they took brisket and put some sauce on it before putting it into a tortilla. The tortilla was also really soft and fell apart, not cripsy at all. The consomme was... odd. This might be just a matter of taste, but I don't know. Also when I cancelled the 2nd one, I wasn't initially offered a replacement, refund, or anything. One of the employees ended up refunding in cash after I asked. So no harm done. Just odd...
I got a hot sugar-free vanilla latte. I watched it be made, but it still came out lukewarm. The water is self-serve, and I had to ask for ice and a straw. Again, the lady I spoke with was very sweet and gave them both to me. It just seems that this place is a little confused as to their identity.
I thought it was a restaurant with some boozy coffee options, food, and coffee bar. But it's more like a coffee shop with some Mexican-inspired food and breakfast. It's counter service, a lot of things are a la carte, the food is brought to your table, there's only a few pieces of silverware on the counter for you to grab. But the only drink you can refill yourself is tap water....? I did inform one of the staff about these issues and they were very understanding and kind. They refunded me in cash, and said they were unable to offer a card refund, as the manager that can authorize those is "never there."
I completely understand working out kinks in the beginning of a restaurant's opening. So, I would probably give this place another chance in the later future. For the price and the atmosphere, it was a little lackluster, especially for the area. But I have seen great reviews about their specialty drinks and other food, so maybe it was just...

I was so so excited to try this place out but was left severely disappointed. It definitely feels like there is a disconnect between whether it is a coffee shop or a restaurant and counter service vs sit down.
We ordered one carne asada taco, a breakfast burrito, the croissant French toast, a vanilla lavender latte, and a topochico for a total of $41.
First off, the prices were astronomical for the amount of food that you get. Specifically the taco and the burrito.
Ordering was pretty straightforward and the guy at the register was super helpful with menu/coffee suggestions. Unfortunately, we watched our food sit on a counter with no heat source that was right next to where everyone was lined up to order, for a good 10-15 min before someone came to deliver it to our table which resulted in everything being cold and rubbery.
To the staffs defense, there seemed to be no one available to run food/wait tables. C mThe staff was busy and trying to keep up to the best of their ability.
I was okay with just chalking it up to them gaining their footing but as soon as I recieved my taco I noticed that there were raw peices of meat in my tortilla (not undercooked but completely raw). They let me know that there was only one cook in the back and were very accommodating about getting another taco made for me which was great, but in the end, the new taco (which was unfortunately the only warm thing we were served) was severely under filled for being $3.50.
And finally, although a somewhat small thing, my husband was never brought his topochico, and ended up having to get up and ask for it before we left.
Overall, I think it has potential but may need to scale back on some of the menu offerings until they can get enough staff to keep things...
Read moreUpdated Labor Day. I was in their neck of the woods on a national holiday, and it was a stormy Monday so immediately I thought about my favorite Kemah restaurant. All due to their unique tasting coffee blend, House Drip. And the beautiful lady that serves me every time I drive through.
Today I was feeling good and a little passed the excitement of buying a new mini juicer for my introduction into the world of plant based smoothies. So I splurged feeling that holiday vibe. And I ordered my medium hot coffee with two sugars and two cream full. Which gave their roast grounds a nice holiday kick to it, without my usual cinnamon. Thank you to that beautiful Texas soul.
The previous drive-through this summer: This regular Joe, who served my country, just so happened to have an afternoon appointment in Kemah for an open house visitation today on a Saturday in July.
I love these types of restaurants and shops throughout the great state of Texas. I love to support any of these non chain choices, that are Texas owned and operated while traveling, this time from across the bridge from Baytown. I also support any veteran owned business that I recognize.
So after getting stuck in Hwy 146 traffic delays on the La Porte side, I quickly switched into my coffee mode of thought and after not having any coffee for this morning.
And with only a few minutes prior to meeting family in Kemah area of nearby San Leon, I decided to go through their drive-though, on my first visit here. No worries, I will be back again updating my visits each time here, as I always try and do as a local guide on Google Maps.
This quick visit, I ordered a large hot drip coffee with cinnamon. The first taste was unique by my taste buds. Tasted as an unfamiliar blend, even with the cinnamon added.
I always ask for cinnamon above sugar or milk or creamer, which I tend to avoid the fatteners unless it's a holiday...
