We made a reservation for 14 almost 2 weeks ago, meaning the restaurant had ample notice that we were coming, meaning that they SHOULD have prepared. To start, the waitress was nice., explained the menu, etc to us. That was the beginning and the end of the "good" there was in the restaurant. We never got refills for our waters (3 hours in) until we asked. Our reservation was at 7:30. We ordered 3 appetizers, cokes and everyone had a meal. 1.5 hours in, no appetizers delivered. 2 hours in, 2 people had meals in front of them (which were sent back because they were spicy). At 2.5 hours, still, no food. We asked about our food and the excuse we were told was that they were understaffed. They brought food out one plate (person) at a time. At the end, only one person enjoyed their food. All the other food that came out, felt rushed because we asked about the meals 15 times at that point. The kids pasta was practically raw (NOT ALDENTE). No flavor at all. The Fish was under seasoned. The Scallops were cold and undercooked. The chicken parm tastes good, however, it was more arugla salad than actual chicken. at one point, our server just stopped coming to the table and changed out to another serve (curly hair lady) who was very nice and did her best to push out food as fast as she could. We ordered deserts, which were fine, they sang happy bday which was fine, yet not one person got a refill on cokes, ice, water. Its disappointing the lack of preparation that took place on a Thursday night with a reservation made well in advance. This place will not succeed if it continues this way. They need to figure out time management, find another chef, make better prep for their meals, etc. Lastly, no one apologized sincerely for the lack of attention and delay in feeding us. It was almost 930 before my kids were finally served on a school night. Completely...
Read moreThis time, I am going to share my experience at Fratelli By Jholano’s. On Wednesdays and Sundays, they have select pastas for $18. I ordered the chicken parm which was one of the specials. The breading was perfectly crispy, and the chicken was very tender. It had a spicy rigatoni al mezcal sauce at the bottom that added a great touch to it (even though I don’t like a smoky taste). The Sunday spaghetti was delicious with small pieces of cured meat. We ordered two sandwiches that were excellent choices to try. They both come in focaccia bread. The 3AM in Rome (with salami, hot capicola, mozzarella, and hot honey) is the one I liked the most. The 7AM in Milano is similar. It had the same meats, but it came with truffle burrata, arugula, extra virgin olive, and balsamic vinegar. The Zucca Ravioli was good, but too sweet for my preference. It felt more like a dessert or a breakfast item. It had a brown butternut whipped fig ricotta in the middle and cinnamon dust on top of the raviolis. The 2am at the Pantheon flatbread was amazing! The marinara sauce was homemade. The hot honey and parsley with the Italian cured meats and melted cheese was an awesome combination. Finally, but not least their Pistachio Tres Leche was the best way to end our meal. It was fresh, spongy, moist, and it had the perfect amount of sweetness. I definitely recommend this place. The environment, the staff, and the chef were all very friendly. They offer wine, but you can bring your own or buy it at a liquor store just around the corner.

Read moreI heard about this place opening because I’m an avid fan of Jholanos sandwiches. Needless to say once i found out about their new venture I jumped onto open table to make a reservation for the soft opening. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint the same way their sandwiches do not disappoint. If I had just been walking along and found this place I would have thought they had been open forever. The hostess was extremely warm and personable, the server offered great suggestions and was able to talk about the restaurant history and how it came into fruition. And let’s not forget arguably the most important, the food. I ordered a Caesar salad and a shrimp Sicilian dish. The lettuce in the salad was the freshest I’ve ever had, the taste of the dressing phenomenal. The shrimp dish blew my mind away when I tasted the sauce the shrimp and vegetables were sitting in.
I can not recommend this place enough, whether it’s a date night, a boys (or girls) night, or if you just want to get good food by yourself.
Jholanos knows what...
