I usually dislike writing poor reviews, however I feel compelled to bring my experience to the general public. My wife and I went to Pedro’s in Kennebunk on April 17, 2025, which we frequent every so often being residents of Kennebunk. We wanted to stop in and get a quick bite so we ordered nachos with grilled chicken as a protein topping. We actually ordered a small nacho and did not even look at the menus as we knew exactly what we wanted. When we received the nachos it appeared like a large. When we brought it to the waiters attention, he then told us they did away with a small and it now comes one size. It would have been nice to know that upfront. Even though the nachos were not the best; oily chips, undercooked chicken, (which was cold), oily cheese, etc. – we ate them anyway (mostly). However, this is not the reason I am writing this review. The reason I write is when we got the check; the all in price for nachos with the chicken and one club soda and tip was $42!!! The nachos were $25, the chicken was $6 and soda and tip $11 for a total of $42 We could not believe Pedro’s charged $25 for a plate of nachos, cheese, pico de gallo, etc. Dumbfounded, we paid our bill. On the way out I had a private conversation with the manager. I told him that charging $25 for nachos was an incredible price. His answer was “nachos are a money loser and they will probably take them off of the menu“. He also said “they cannot make profit on nachos“. I know for a fact, having friends in the restaurant business, that they are making a fortune in profit at $25 nachos, especially when you take into consideration the wholesale price of the ingredients that are used. I seriously doubt they will remove nachos from the menu. Granted, the manager said he would remove the nachos from the bill however, we had already paid the bill and it was not our intention to get a free meal. I simply wanted to bring to his attention that charging $25 for nachos and then him telling me that they cannot make a profit off of them is a ridiculous statement. They are making a ton of profit on the nachos and the liquor people usually order to go with them. Again, I wanted to bring this experience and the manager’s discussions with me to the general publics attention. Charging those prices will draw people away. It’s just a shame really. Needless to say, it will be a very, very long time before we go back to Pedro’s if ever. I will, however in the near future check online to see if they remove nachos from the menu being that “they don’t make any profit off nachos“.
4/22/2025: thanks for the “cover you butt”email reply. I’m sure my post will have little effect on your bottom line. If the general public wants overpriced Mexican food by all means go to Pedros. Best of...
Read moreWow! Came here last night w my gf! First time we've done mexican food in Maine. This place was incredible! We started w the chips and cheese queso..very good..we quickly added a order of the Salsa Fresca..very very good..the chips were a type of chips I've never had before but they were good..Cheese and salsa delicious! Despite the resurant being full our food came a short time after, and ty for that because we could have and would have filled up on the chips. Now I ordered the Mexican Street tacos, and it came w refried beans and rice. Very healthy portions. As my gf can vouch for me, I'm 40 years old and a lot of time my eyes are bigger than my belly and most the time I never finish my meal. Not last night..I'm not a big taco guy but the chicken was delicious w all it accompanying sauces and flavors mixed in..I wasn't expecting great expectations for the brown rice and the refried beans, as they were more of a filling..but again I was wrong..At the first bite of refried beans ( thankfully not burnt or overcooked) my mouth was filled w delicious spices and Mexican flavor..as well as the rice..not overcooked or sitting under a hot light all day. My gf ordered the Fish Tacos and quickly wolfed her plate down, you would have thought she was a competitive food eater..but nope she's just human. She loved all of the delicious flavors her taco delivered as well as the refried beans and rice. We rate this place a high 9.9. Good job Pedros!!!! We will be back..maybe...
Read moreDisappointed beyond disappointed! It takes a significant issue for me to write a negative review; but here it is. Given my family hasn’t received our order yet this review is based purely on service received so far. We showed up at the end of their rush (7:15pm) to be greeted by the host with confusion. He was going to seat us and was told to hold off. The seat he was going to provide was then provided to another couple. We received a text at 7:30pm saying we were waiting for a table. Approximately 20 minutes later we were seated…Upon ordering our food we were told complimentary chips and salsa were not provided. We succumbed to the tradition of having chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant; surprisingly we were provided two for one chips. After waiting 60 minutes for food, and getting ready to cancel our order and pay for what we had, the food came to the table. The food was good, better than Tex mex, and seemed on par with San Diego Mexican.
Yes…the food is overpriced. A small guac is $10, a small bowl of salsa is $6. The burritos seem slightly higher priced at $24. I understand the is Kennebunk, however, if you are going to charge a premium for food and service the service should...
