Pepe's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Kenner

Where do i start? Not usually the type to leave reviews much less bad ones but this experience was flat out horrible. Let me start by saying that it was our first time going there after seeing a tiktok pos so we figured why not. Let’s go try it. The food, not bad, but not a wow factor neither. So i will just go with an “ok” grade. The service, besides getting seated, horrible to non existent. When we walked in there were literally two tables leaving and we were the only ones there. We got seated by our server “Carlos”, took our drink order, brought the drinks, and disappeared for a good bit. Fine. Maybe he was giving us time to decide on food. When he finally came back, he took our order. While waiting, a couple walked in which if i was to guess were either regulars, or they knew our server because once he seated them, it was all about them and we were just non existent. Not ONCE throughout the meal or our time there we were asked how we were doing, how was the food, if everything was to our liking, if we needed anything, if we needed more drinks, etc… asked for sour cream as soon as we were getting our food, 15-20 mins go by and no server at the table. Why u may ask? Because he is giving it all to the other couple that walked in. They literally got to be seated, order taken, food brought, WITH special treatment, with extra sauces to try, drink refills, the whole shabang. Not to mention they were sitting at the booth right next to us. Not like he had to walk extra. My fiancee had to literally call for him across the floor while walking to get some form of recognition. Even when we asked for the check. The attention was so focused on that other table that we asked first but they got their check, paid, said their goodbyes, shook hands, walked out got in their car and were leaving while we were still waiting. I personally worked service industry and restaurants myself and i know proper customer service and that was far from it. It was a sad sad experience and it is safe to say that we will NOT return to your establishment. Staff and customer service...

The food is amazing but unfortunately the dude working that claims he is the owners son is not. We went there for lunch today and I always leave a cash payment for a tip. The little dude working there would not give me my receipt to sign because he says that he gets to add what he wants as a tip at the end of the night. I tried explaining to him that is not how it works. I reached over signed my receipt and put 0 for the tip and said if you add money on my card with out my permission I will be contacting the police. I was still going to leave some cash on the table for him until he continues on about he is the owners son and he can do what he wants. I said well add money to peoples cards illegally and I will be back with the police because that is against the law. Warning to whoever goes there to go with cash because the owners son believes he can add money to whoever’s cards he wants. The food is really good but this is one big way of loosing business. Service was absolutely horrible! When we got there there was one other couple in the restaurant. Carlos was our “server”. Took about 15 minutes to even come take our order. At this time another couple he apparently knows comes in. They have their order taken and delivered to them in about 15 minutes. Meanwhile we wait on sour cream for more than 15 minutes. We ask for the e check before this other couple and they get their check before us and cashed all the way out and left before we got our check. Zero recommendation...
