Yesterday, I witnessed an unsettling incident at the McDonald’s near my house that really made me reflect on how one act of rudeness can deeply affect someone. A grandmother with her grandchildren was treated poorly by a young employee named Zania at the drive-thru.
The woman had a mobile order but wasn’t able to provide her code at the first window because no one responded to her at the speaker. Understandably, she assumed it wasn’t working and drove forward. Instead of addressing the issue kindly, Zania scolded her, saying she was “messing up the line” and complained about having to fix everything. Her tone and attitude were unnecessary and disrespectful.
The grandmother, already going through a hard time—visiting her father who had just suffered a heart attack—was visibly upset. She decided the food wasn’t worth the disrespect and asked for a refund. Unfortunately, the situation escalated as Zania processed the refund with even more rudeness. When the lady, overwhelmed by the treatment, started to stand up for herself, Zania called the police.
This incident broke my heart. The grandmother confided in me that she has PTSD, and the disrespect and tension triggered her deeply. People don’t realize the battles others are fighting. A little kindness could have changed everything.
What stood out to me even more is that I recognized this employee as a student at the university where I work. It’s a small world, and people should always remember that their actions have consequences—they never know who they might encounter later in life or who is connected to whom.
It’s also disheartening to see this lack of compassion becoming a trend among some younger employees, especially on night shifts. Respect and empathy go a long way, especially in customer service. I hope the management at this McDonald’s addresses this issue and emphasizes the importance of treating all customers with respect, regardless of the situation.
To anyone reading this: Remember, your actions can have lasting impacts. You never know what someone is going through, so let’s choose kindness...

I went in to use the restroom and the. To place an order. The restroom was nasty, point blank. I would rather used the most run down, dilapidated, neglected, run down truck stop restroom, than to relieve myself here.
Ok moving on. I placed my order and immediately noticed chaos worse than. The man next to me seemed to be very agitated and/or impatient. He asked ab employee how much longer did she think it will be. She looked at him, rolled her eyes, and proceeded to the fry station to get fries for a totally different order. Apparently he'd been waiting a long time already. Sure enough, his elderly wife came in also upset and asked what was taking so long.
Apparently someone gave his order to a customer in the drive thru. Then the arguing began behind the counter. Again, the customer asked how much longer would it be. The employee told him he'd have to wait until they took care of the cars in drive thru and other waiting customers. Bad decision. He should've been service ASAP.
The entire time the employees were unprofessional, loud, cursing, and repeatedly spoke about customers in the drive thru, WITH THE WINDOW OPEN. NO concern and no regard.
The man's order finally came. He asked for napkins and a straw. Thr employee looked at him rolled her eyes (again) never said anything to him, and never answered his requests. Totally unprofessional crew (all of them). Shift lead or supervisor was on duty but did nothing to improve the situation.
In my opinion and in Closing, it doesn't matter who you are, what race you are, what religion you practice, what political agenda you believe or any of that. One thing we can all agree on is that Mc Donald's is an American icon. I have to say, as an American, I was EMBARASSED. THIS WAS THE 3RD WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY 50 YRS OF LIFE AT A MCDONALD'S. DINE OR DRIVE THRU AT YOUR OWN RISK....
