My wife and I have been to this location several times and it is normally pretty good. On our last visit, the food was still good but the staff was really off point.
We sat at a hibachi table with two other unrelated groups. The waiter took about 10 minutes to greet us and take our drink orders. It took a long time for him to clear the soup bowls/salad dishes and never asked us if we wanted additional drinks. When the meal was over, he asked how the groups wanted to separate the checks and then disappeared for another 15 minutes. When he came back, instead of bringing our checks, he brought out the birthday drum and had us all sing happy birthday to guests in one of the other groups. Once that was done, we got our checks. It was pretty awkward.
While the waiter wasn’t the best, the cook is what really made me provide a poor rating. He didn’t have the best personality and didn’t have much in the way of showmanship. This by itself wasn’t terrible, what was bad, in my opinion, is what he did to three of the other guests. It was time for the shrimp appetizer. He was preparing the shrimp appetizer along with shrimp orders for two of the guests, one being my wife. He gave appetizers to the all people at the table, including two tween/teen kids. He gave my wife her shrimp and then gave the last guest her shrimp. The last guest noticed that she was missing four shrimp and asked about it. The cook said that she was correct and that he would get her more shrimp. After about 30 seconds, he realized that the two younger guests should not have received the shrimp appetizer. He then proceeded to remove the shrimp from their plates and gave the four shrimp to the other guest. This guest was not a part of the group that was with the kids and the kids had they already eaten other things off their plates and moved the shrimp with their forks.
While the other guest either didn’t notice or didn’t mind eating shrimp off another person's plate, my wife and I were a disgusted with this. We didn’t bother to complain since it wasn’t our food that was messed with. I just know that I probably won’t be back to this restaurant if they do this type of thing in front of the guests. Who know what they do in the back of...
Read moreUpdate 5.13.22. Portions smaller than before. Wife sat down and her sleeve was immediately soaked with something we can only hope was water.
The plate the sushi was served on had a very large crack running through it. I'm surprised it wasn't thrown out.
Spring roll appetizers were ok and the sauce was good but the garnish chosen to accentuate these were some albino rectangles of iceberg lettuce.
Fish (Yellow tail) was not fresh on top of the AK47 roll. Fishy/slimy and tough. Informed server that we both had to spit our fish into our napkin. He said he'd go tell the manager, but a few minutes later (he didn't talk to the manager or get it removed from the check) He came back with our check and just said "thanks for coming." Two days later my stomach is still churning and this is the only odd thing I put into it in weeks.
The place was not crowded like it used to be and we wondered why on a Friday night it was not packed... Now we understand. This level of service is exactly why restaurants close. If you know your staff doesn't give a crap, can them and get different staff. If your fish is not fresh, throw it out. Don't feed it to your regular eating and drinking customers to begin with. If your servers treat people this way I'm sorry to say that things are going downhill fast and it may not be a reversible trend. Pay attention to the staff that are out back smoking also before they come back in and roll your sushi up.
*Original review below and one original star maintained from prior experiences:
We had an amazing bartender (name removed) with the best cheerful smile and positive attitude. The sushi chef (name removed) is amazing, he's been all over Atlanta and California, Ohio and more preparing Sushi. The management team is super nice also, this place is pretty new but is quickly becoming the go to spot for us. We've been to many of the best spots in Atlanta and this one is going to be giving them a run for the money now for sure.
Update: After these two people left the...
Read moreHere’s when I wish I could put 0 stars! I cannot even believe the way the manager (Audrey) treated our party today. Me and my boyfriend were the first to arrive of our party of 6. Since our other members of the party weren’t there we had to wait. The manager asked us to wait outside which we agreed to. When our party all arrived, they told us we had to wait 20 minutes even though we had a reservation and more then 5 tables were open. We waited in the cold for 5 minutes and then they let us inside, like what was the point? I already had a feeling the manager was not a fan of us from our first conversation of having to step outside. We we’re not rude to her in any way, we had just asked why our party is almost here, and when she said it was because of COVID so we happily agreed to wait outside for our party. Dinner goes fine and then the check comes... this is when it went down hill. No where on their online menu, the only one they would let us use/see, did it say there was a sharing fee. So me and my boyfriend ordered a steak dinner to share (a $21 meal) because neither of us were very hungry. We we’re only going because it was his moms birthday and we wanted to give her a nice night. The check comes and it’s $45! Our dinner was $21, how does it go up $24?!? Well they have a sharing fee of $8, and we weren’t even informed of that! They also already added their tip, and ask for another tip?!? Our server was an absolute sweetheart and did an amazing job, but the manger was so incredibly rude. I definitely will not be returning after the way they treated us, and I don’t think anyone in our party will either. A greedy restaurant with no care for customers, great way to ruin our night. I’ve worked in food my whole career, there was no need for Audrey’s pettiness especially being the manager, I’ve never seen a manager less professional then...
