The service; Made a reservation for my wife and I’s anniversary. When we arrived staff were not rude but not particularly friendly either. No friendly chit chat, no questions about if we were celebrating anything etc.(in spite the reservation form online specifically have a spot to list special occasions) Throughout the meal waters were refilled readily but other than that it was a lot of waiting. Asked if we had anything we’d like to order for desert before we had been given a desert menu. Overall the staff seemed unhappy, tired, and just “over it” . I’m pretty forgiving of customer service staff, but it was disappointing. I almost felt like I was intruding on their evening.
The atmosphere; Place had a cute modern bar kind of aesthetic, which was cute enough, however the wall by our table was splattered with sauces. Not sure if they were stains or just not cleaned, but it was a touch of putting. The place was a bit cramped but there were decent one stall bathrooms.
The food; As someone who has liked and tried sushi from a lot of places for many years, what I tried, was mediocre. The salmon sashimi flavor was just okay, and the pieces were thin and scrappy looking(still priced as if they were high quality cuts at 4 dollars a piece) the rainbow roll was pretty, but bland. They were out of escolar and subbed salmon, but offered no discount for the substitute of a cheaper fish. The house salad was good, but not remarkable, and the Korroke were an excellent texture, but really lacking in flavor aside from the sauces on it.
Overall; Service was bad; atmosphere was cramped felt cheapened by dirty environment and food was just okay. Disappointing for an anniversary celebration. I would not come back...
Read moreJust when u thought Soon's has cornered the market in Kenosha for sushi....ONO! Theres a new sheriff in town! My 1st time trying this place out with takeout...I only have Soons to compare it to, so thats what I'll do. 1st up Bulgogi bun: beef didnt LOOK like much:. No sear, no sizzle. Just dull brown chunks sitting in a raw-looking dough. But 1 bite later... such sweet flavorful meat being hugged by a light airy cottonball patty of bread. It felt indescent to eat this in public. I had to close my eyes before opening my mouth for the next bite. 2 of these were more than enuf! Ion even think Soons offers this... Next seaweed salad:. I've definitly had this at Soons. Portion size is smaller here. Perhaps due to the half a cucumber they sliced up under the seaweed. Soons dont use cucumber?! Going in... this is a much sweeter version...and it's good. I. Could Not. Stop. Eating. It. I had to pull myself away to try the main dish (definity finished it tho) The California Roll. (ALWAYS start with the basics when trying a new place) Again, portion size is smaller than Soons. Taste is extremely similar also. But Soons wins cuz theirs is made fresh to order. The rice is still warm when ordering from Soons. This was cold and uninviting. As if they were made for the peasant California Roll eaters earier that day. Also, foiled wrapped ginger...not classy (and smaller portion than Soons gives) Also, once i break the chopsticks, hard to tell which end is which (just sayin..made sushi life a bit harder) Overall, lots of good, very little bad....

First off: the cocktails are next-level. Balanced, creative, and flat-out delicious. These aren’t your run-of-the-mill bar drinks—every sip feels like it was crafted with intention. The presentation matches the flavor too, which makes the whole experience pop.
And let’s talk about the oyster shooter—WOW. It’s fresh, bold, and layered with flavor in a way that makes you want to order a second immediately. It’s the kind of shot that sets the tone for the entire night.
Now, onto the stars of the show: the special rolls. The Everything Bagel Roll is genius—imagine your favorite brunch staple reimagined as sushi, with creamy, savory perfection in every bite. Then there’s the On the Rocks Roll, which might just be the most addictive roll I’ve ever tried. Flavor-packed, perfectly balanced, and downright unforgettable.
Every plate that came out of the kitchen was a stunner. Ono doesn’t just serve sushi; they serve an experience. Between the cocktails, the shooters, and those wildly creative rolls, this is hands-down my new favorite spot in Kenosha.
Run, don’t walk. Ono is...
