I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews. I saw that the prices were said to be very reasonable and felt that was a little misleading when I received my check. I came with my wife and two daughters (1 and 3 years old) and ended up paying just under $60 with tip for breakfast.. I got the "large" homemade corned beef hash (with two over easy eggs instead of one) as opposed to the small. It came with peppers, onions and potatoes as well as a pretty generous portion of corned beef. It was good but I felt like it was missing something, the potatoes weren't seasoned very much and weren't crispy. It was all kind of one note and bland. We all ordered orange juice for a pretty hefty price and I was extremely disappointed as I feel that an old school diner should have a good OJ, it tasted like something you would get out of a hotel machine honestly. It was extremely busy and our server took a very long time to even acknowledge us, however she went above and beyond afterwards because she could tell it bothered me. I had to flag someone down to get a coffee refill... at a breakfast joint. My wife said her food was just okay too. My girls all got basic breakfast plates (pancakes, eggs, toast and bacon) so there isn't much to review there. The best thing I can say is they give your kids a fresh fruit plate and arrange the fruit in the shape of a bug to keep the kids happy. All in all it will probably turn me off from coming here again unfortunately, at least on a busy weekend morning. Just to mention, my wife was a server and restaurant manager previously and she was surprised by our lack of service with the size...
Read moreI want to like this place. I really do. But there are too many issues with the service and presentation of the place. The food is pretty good, there's nothing wrong there really. However, the interior is like a cafeteria. It's not cozy or comfortable. You feel like you're in a high school cafeteria. It's loud, too. There are a ton of waiters and bus boys, too many in my opinion. There were more of them running around than customers. I think I had 5 different people deal with my table from serving, to cleanup. I went with my son and my food came out first. Rookie mistake. Everything we ordered came out at different times, even our sides. I got my food first. He got his after about 10 minutes. Then I got my side after another 5 minutes, and then 5 minutes after that he got his side. Is it that difficult to serve everything at once? It isn't for other places. Also, everything seemed to be rushed. Except for getting the food out. We were rushed to sit then as we got our food we got our check immediately. Basically saying hurry up, eat, and pay. Not very welcoming. Again, the food was great. The rest...
