Finest Indelicacy of Bad tastes, I have ever experienced...
I've been to Saigon Soul Vietnamese Restaurant a total of three times and ordered the same dish four times. On my first visit, I should have recognized that the plastic drinking cups being slippery from a generous coating of grease was a sign of a serious hygiene problem; consequently, it was my first time and I wanted to give the restaurant a fair chance.
On my first visit, I dined in with my wife and her friend but I wasn't able to finish my meal do to complete disgust, after pulling two very long black hairs out of my mouth, while in midst of chewing. The worst part was my wife had the waitress bring another omelette, only to have the same problem with hair. I couldn't swallow another bite after pulling hair from two bites. Still, I tried to give the restaurant a fair chance, wanting to believe it was just one bad day in the kitchen, so I gave them two more chances which turned out to be an awful and regrettable decision.
I just couldn't imagine it could get worse than the initial visit but it was beyond belief how much more gross it actually got. On the two other visits, I was literally given inedible and contaminated food. I ordered the vegetarian Vietnamese Omelette on all three occasions, but my final two occasions were for pickup versus the initial dine-in. The final two times I picked up omelettes but found that they had more than a little very long black human hair tucked inside the omelettes, and to my horror the third and final visit had what was clearly a generous serving of a kinky grade of human pubic hairs sprinkled all within the center of my Vietnamese omelet. I couldn't believe it. So many hairs in fact, it left me gagging and pulling them from my teeth. I was beyond disgusted and made so physically ill it caused me to vomit from disgust. I haven't been back since the final serving of human pubic hair.
It was such a major disappointment, and I'm not clear on who I made mad or how I made them mad but I find it very odd that this continued to happen at each and every visit. It is very disturbing that it happened not once, not twice, not thrice, but to four separate omelettes. Three separate occasions, all different dates and or times, but all four servings had the secret ingredient of either head hair or pubic hair.
Unfortunately, first impressions of 'food critics' are lasting impressions. 'Saigon Soul Vietnamese' Restaurant from my perspective, whenever I'm asked which is the most disgusting and disturbing restaurant dining experience I have ever had to ingest, from now on that place will be 'Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant' in Kent, Washington. Hands-down, it has been the most nightmarishly disturbing and truly most disgusting dining experiences I have personally ever had to experience. It will be awhile before I can get over ingesting this gastronomic...
Read moreI would have given 4 stars if it weren't for the most recent visit which was extremely disappointing. I came to get a small pho take our order, however the lady told me I could ONLY order large pho for take out. I was really confused because I had just been there about 2-3 weeks prior and ordered a small pho take out (with the same lady taking my order). I asked her how come I couldn't order a small because I had recently ordered a small. She told me for take out, it's large only. But if I dined in I could order small. Thought that was strange. I wonder if they are still asking people to order large pho for take out? Or does it depend on the person or how much someone is ordering?
Since I was already there, I just ordered a large pho take out. When I got home and opened up the package, I found that was portion was SO small (it was less than the small order). The limes were dry. They only gave me 3 thin beef slices. And the broth was so bland. I wonder if the lady told the cook to do this on purpose? :( I've been to this pho place over 15 times and it's normally pretty good, not the best, not the most consistent, but good enough. I would just come here if I was in a hurry since this is the closest pho place to me.
Now, I am going to other Vietnamese restaurants even if they are further because I'm finding way better customer service and consistent food taste/portions.
I would highly recommend people to...
Read moreUpdate 5 years later: I guess I forgot how subpar this place was. I am sick & needed some close quick pho. MISTAKE! I've changed my review to 1 star. The pho was substandard AGAIN. (Please see ALL the new photos) The broth wasn't full, and it was bland. The egg rolls had no glass noodles as advertised on the menu, and they were also bland. The biggest disappointment was the beef teriyaki my bf ordered. Look at the portion size! Are you kidding me??? For $14.95??? That was a kids meal portion! And check out the "salad" that came with it. What a joke! I will 100% NEVER EVER eat here again. This left a lifetime impression.
Original post: Hmm. The pho broth was almost flavorless. I added all the good stuff & that's all I could taste. None of the goodness that usually comes through in good broth. I was really disappointed. When pho'ing it's ALL about the broth. This broth just fell way short. Additionally the amount of meat for a large pho was ridiculous. It was maybe 2 Oz. I was shocked. I ordered the beef short ribs for my 4 year old & they were soooooo fatty! My takeaway? I won't be back. The service was great... But good service can't compensate for...
