Pro tip: if you ever go to D&W, KEEP YOUR RECEIPT. On the back of mine was a coupon for this place: buy one 15” sub combo get a 15” sub FREE! After seeing that, I decided to stop in, and man was I blown away. Boardwalk subs has got to be the best sandwich shop in Grand Rapids. Great prices, awesome service, AMAZING PORTIONS. This is the place to go if you want something that can feed you the whole day. Heck, with the discount I got, I bought lunch for the whole week! The fine people working here really have it down in terms of customer service, very friendly and great with recommendations. Meat is cut to order right in front of you, and the subs are HUGE! Not to mention how filling they are, on top of being incredibly delicious. It also has to go without saying, that their workspace where the sandwiches are put together is SPOTLESS. We’ve all been to subway and seen the leftover bits of somebody else’s sandwich they put together 20 minutes ago all over the counter. Not here. The whole place is in tip top condition, I’m not sure if they hire an outside cleaning company or what, but I am pretty sure those floors were clean enough to eat off of. This is the kind of place I’d come for lunch if I were a health inspector. This has to be my new favorite place to get a bite to eat, hands down, no question about it. My wife ordered a meatball sub, even after microwaving the meat it was ice cold. They asked me about something I never heard of at the Byron Center store then made rude comments and looking like deer in the headlights. Then when asking what I want in my sandwich acted like they couldn't hear me. I'm not sure if their names but the employees here certainly need an education in creating a welcoming atmosphere. I will continue to use the Byron Center location but I'll never return here. I truly hope the company owners take note. We try to frequent this one other sub shops but I won't attack for rudeness. The cleanliness of the small dining area needs attention as well. You'll see the crumbs left on the table beside us even though staff was out to inspect the room.

Update... My wife has then remake her sub and they decided to heat it beyond ability to eat. When back to just return the whole order minus the drink we ordered. The two young men that were there wanted to argue and still be rude. Luckily their manager Allie came out and took care of things. Though the boys still wanted to be rude. Once Allie was finished apologizing the rude one of the two gave very snarky and insincere apologies. I hope they find better employees for this location. Absolutely the worst service I have ever witnessed making a sandwich. I told him what I wanted, then they told me to order by the number on the board. So I told him the number on the board like they wanted. Five minutes later the person making the sub repeats the number to ensure that they have the right one. I look at the board and confirm that that is what I wanted. When I go to pay out I noticed the sandwiches made with meets that I did not want on my sandwich. What did they do? They simply take the wrong improper meat off and do not add anything else back to the sandwich. Then I watched the person kindly cut up my sandwich that I was going to eat there in the location. However, when I went to pull my first piece of the sandwich off, I quickly found out that the only thing cut was the top of the loaf as all of the interior parts of the sandwich and the bottom of my sub came out with the top portion of the bread. Add to this unique experience that the chips were expiring up on the day they were given to me and the drink from the soda fountain was flat. I did ask my money back, but it did give me an opportunity to give you an honest opinion and review of what happened to me.
