I used to like this location, but my experience today was horrible! If I had read the other recent reviews, I would have known to stay away. To start, the line was long at the sandwich counter, so we decided to get coffee and bagels first. Well, they couldn't toast our bagels because their toaster was broken (it's a bakery, right? Yet the girl at the counter said it had been broken all week). So I walked over to the sandwich counter and asked if they could toast our bagels on a panini grill. They agreed, reluctantly ("only if we don't have too many sandwiches to grill").
So, after we ate our bagels, we ordered our meals. They had a new soba noodle soup, and we asked if we could get that with a "you pick two" special. The high school guy taking our order said "yeah." So we placed two orders, and my girlfriend asked if we could get one of the 99 cent pastries advertised at the register. "Yeah," he said again.
We paid quickly, since there were people behind us, but then I realized while we were waiting for our two meals that our bill was $32.00 ($40 once you factor in the bagels and coffee). That's for two half-sandwiches, two cups of soup, and a 99 cent pastry. We complained to the manager about the price, and he said that the new soups were not part of the "you pick two" deal, so they had charged us $10 each for them. They made no attempt to correct their error or apologize for giving us bad information.
I then pointed out that we were charged $3 for our "99 cent" pastry. Their explanation was that because we had paid for our coffee separately at the other counter, then we had not purchased beverages, and therefore were not entitled to a 99 cent pastry. I had to argue with the cashier for several minutes before the manager walked over and told him "What are you arguing about? Just give him back his $2!).
And to top it all off, the soups looked nothing like they did in the pictures. Both bowls were half-empty (they made me a pessimist today), and one of them had hardly any ingredients -- only a little broth, one-half of a hard boiled egg and a handful of soggy noodles. I was a Panera fan for a long time; but next time, I'm going across the parking lot to Cook-Out, where that same $40 would have fed my...

This Panera Bread on South Main Street is an absolute standout and my go-to spot in Kernersville! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with that wonderful smell of fresh bread and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It's consistently clean, comfortable, and just a perfect place to grab a bite, whether I'm meeting friends, fueling up after shopping nearby, or need a cozy corner to relax. The food here is always fantastic. They absolutely nail the classics – the Broccoli Cheddar Soup is legendary for a reason, always creamy and flavorful, especially in a bread bowl! I'm also a huge fan of their sandwiches. Salads like the Fuji Apple with Chicken are crisp, vibrant, and satisfying. And you absolutely have to try their Mac & Cheese – it's pure comfort food perfection! The "You Pick Two" option is brilliant for when you can't decide because everything looks so good.
Let's not forget the bakery! Their bagels are a great start to the morning, and the pastries are a delightful treat any time of day. And if you're looking for a truly satisfying breakfast, their Sausage, Egg & Cheese on a flaky croissant is absolutely amazing – savory sausage, perfectly cooked egg, and melty aged white cheddar on that buttery croissant is pure bliss!
The staff here are always friendly and efficient, making the ordering process smooth and pleasant, even during busy times. Plus, with easy access right off South Main Street and convenient options like Rapid Pick-Up, it's incredibly easy to get your Panera fix.

Read moreKernersville Panera....don’t go here unless you want the worst customer service experience. I went to Panera Bread in kernersville on Main st with my daughters and her friends for my daughters Sweet 16 breakfast. We had a snowstorm a few days before so the store was basically empty. Walked up to the breakfast counter and waited and waited and waited. No one was on line... no one was working either. Finally decided to take a look at the other side of the store where you usually order your lunch. There were 2 cashiers standing there with ZERO customers. They were chatting and one of the girls (ZAE name tag) says to the other “if they think I’m going over there to take their order, they crazy.” So I now walk over to them and ask if I can place my breakfast order. ZAE says yes, you can right here. I said, who is working by the breafast area, she says “me.” I take a deep breath and contain my self bc my daughters are there with her friends. I place my order and downhill it goes. It’s too long to write so I’ll spare the details. She’s rude, lazy and got a sassy mouth on her. I’m a business owner in kernersville and this was a teachable moment for my daughters — how to NOT treat paying customers and how to lose customers in an instant. I will not be going back. Smh. Did not eat our breakfast there... decided to take it home. Thanks ZAE for ruining...
