I can appreciate that mistakes can happen with food orders, but I cannot go back again for my order to be fixed. This morning my sister, who is 6 months pregnant, asked me to get her a specific bagel sandwich: a sausage egg and cheese on a poppy seed bagel with scallion cream cheese. Yes, it’s an unusual combination but at this point of her pregnancy, it’s better just to roll with it. I went to Kernersville Bagel, placed her order for pickup, and waited inside. I received my bagel rather quickly as the employee took my order and then made the bagel for me since there was no one in line behind me at the time. I didn’t watch her every move as I looked around the store. I came home, gave the bagel sandwich to my sister, who then promptly started crying. I looked at her bagel and realized they gave me just a poppy seed bagel with scallion cream cheese. I called the store to confirm I can come back and get the correct order. When I went back to the store, they took back the incorrect bagel (I brought it with me in case they needed to see that I wasn’t trying to scam them for another bagel), and waited for them to remake it. The employee who took/made the order for me the first time told the other employees that she knew what happened. Apparently there was an online order that came in right after mine and that’s the one I was given, and that my original order was made correctly but thrown away. I didn’t question it even though I thought it was rather…. Interesting…. that another person ordered a poppy seed bagel with scallion cream cheese (since apparently that was the online order that I was accidentally given) within seconds of my in-store order since I didn’t think poppy seed bagels with scallion cream cheese were that frequently ordered. After the employees asked me for a second time what my order was supposed to be (sausage egg AND cheese with scallion cream cheese), I was given the bagel. It’s my fault for not double checking the bagel after the first mishap. But apparently it was still wrong. I got home and my sister discovered it was missing the cheese. I ended up just adding cheese slices to her bagel half that didn’t have the cream cheese on it and melted it in the air fryer. But I still ended up with an upset pregnant sister because her craving wasn’t satisfied correctly or quickly. I know this is an unnecessarily long review but I thought someone might get a chuckle if they can relate to this situation lol. Here’s a photo of her sausage egg and missing the cheese bagel with scallion...
Read moreI ordered a cinnamon crunch bagel with strawberry cream cheese for takeout, a pretty simple order, in my opinion. Yet it took over 20 minutes to prepare. What made it worse was that I was the only person of color in the restaurant, and I watched as every white customer, many of whom had larger orders, were served ahead of me, repeatedly.
It didn’t look good for Kernersville Bagels, and it felt like a clear example of racial microaggressions. This place needs to get with the times, we’re not in the 1950s anymore.
As for the bagel itself, it was nothing special. Just average, and definitely not worth the long wait. Also, the strawberry cream cheese looked like it had a heavy dose of Red 40, so eat at your own risk.
If I could give this place a 0, I would. Kernersville Bagels needs...
Read moreI was not greeted when I came in. I ordered a cinnamon sugar bagel-toasted medium. The cashier said she's going to warm it up - I said it was supposed to be toasted she said cinnamon sugar can't be toasted. So the cashier asked if I wanted another kind. So I ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese. I reminded her I wanted it toasted medium - the employee took the bagel- sliced it and turned her back to me and supposedly toasted it. Muttering under her breath the whole time! Then proceeded to put the cream cheese on it. When I started to eat the bagel it had not been toasted at all - was cold and there was so much cream cheese on it - I had to scrape it off! Coffee had no taste. Bagels should be crispy, hot and just a small topping of...
