Not sure who voted this Best in Kerrville, but going hungry would be better. Went for breakfast...place was decent enough, although parking an F350 isn't easiest.
I ordered 2 eggs over easy, hashbrowns, sausage, biscuit with a bowl of gravy. Wife ordered an omelette, hasbrowns and a bowl of grits.
Food came quickly...like less than 10 min after ordering. 1st thing I noticed, biscuit was not even warm. Gravy no flavor and barely warm. Sausage was like a hockey puck, just off the ice. DRY, HARD, NO FLAVOR, AND NOT EVEN WARM. It might have been cooked this WEEK....but not today. Hashbrowns ok, but barely warm.... Not sure how you can serve OE eggs that are decently cooked, but NOT HOT.
Wife had order her hashbrowns crispy....be careful what you ask for...they were crispy....like potatoe sticks. She said her omelette was good, it had lots of ingredients. Now the grits...gracious sakes...like cool cornmeal soup. Not hot....not thick...and watery flavor.
The worst day at Cracker Barrell or IHOP (both within 1 block) 10 X better than Save Inn. We prefer giving our $$s to small places in small towns....as opposed to the big national chains.
That being said, I'm unwilling to eat less than decent food. Yes its lower price than Ihop or CB, but low cost and low quality means 1 thing....it SUCKS.
Dont bother with Save Inn...heck Mc Dee's is a block away. Or don't get off I-10 and head on to San Antone.
No pics...I wouldn't want to show how bad the sausage looked.
Needless to say they got the last $$s that will ever be spent of mine...
Read moreCalled ahead and asked if they serve a chorizo plate and Lisa assured me they do. Then when i ordered the waitress stated they didn't serve a chorizo and egg plate at which time i explained that i had spoken with Lisa and she told me they did. So waitress took order of chorizo and eggs, hashbrowns and refried beans. Took quite a long time to be served. Food was ok but when we received the bill we noticed an extra $1.25 charge when we asked the waitress she stated that the egg and chorizo plate only has one side so they charged extra for the beans. So i asked why didn't she tell us that earlier when we ordered instead of saying they didn't even serve a chorizo plate. The waitress was very rude and had a sour attitude. Will NOT be returning!!!! Paid $9.50 for a chorizo and egg plate served with store bought tortillas! I have been a long time customer at Save Inn but now I see why Del Norte is rated #1 breakfast in Kerrville and Save Inn no longer is! Save your money and eat breakfast at Del Norte. I...
Read moreBack to Save Inn again, 6/20/25, and again just the best place for Breakfast and lunch, for that matter, in this region. I had the "Sinker" omelet which has everything in it and a nice piece of wonderfully plain American cheese on top of it. Some complain that it has no cheese inside the omelet. Frankly, that would cover the taste of the meats and veggies contained therein. It is a great omelet; makes me drool thinking about it, lol. The hash browns were perfectly cooked and hot, as was the toast accompanying it all. The two waitresses are fast, friendly and right there with the coffee, great coffee, when needed. My meal was served by the owner for a nice touch. Nice gentleman. Maybe I am just being nostalgic, but this place warms my heart because I am a USAF retiree and many veterans and their families frequent this place. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it is not the prettiest place, but it is all I need. Thanks Save Inn, don't...
