Branding Iron restaurant — Restaurant in Kerrville

This is a place I was excited to go to. We walked in and we were the only ones in the place which should have told me something. With it being a Friday night we were surprised it was empty. We ordered the special of surf and turf. We went to the salad bar which was great and had a lot of options. The soup on the other hand was horrible. Tomato basil soup should not have 10 to 12 basil leaves just sitting in it over heat. It smelled horrible. Didnt venture. The other one we were not sure what it was but it had chunks and was a greenish brown color. We looked for our waitress several times for refills. She was busy talking with some friends. We saw the sweet tea and filled our own. The shrimp when we received it was watery and spongy and the stark had no flavor. We did not tell the waitress because we never saw her again until she dropped off the bill. She never asked how the food was or came to see if we got the food. Someone from the kitchen brought it out. Another couple came in after we had been done for 15 min. We warned them paid and left. Definitely wont be back. Sad because it is a cool place. (Wednesday pasta buffet) The pasta buffet is made up of prepackaged foods, ingredients that could be fresh, instead are canned, and the items that are prepared, cooked, and served are below cheap fast food quality. Salad bar was a terrible mix of wilted mixed greens lettuce, low quality toppings, and a very limited choice of dressings that had no indication of what they were. (not helpful) Dessert choices are a mixture of canned pudding, dressed up, and other partially or fully prepackaged items that they thaw and dress up as well. Speaking to the ambience/ atmosphere of the restaurant and the entire property: "The Addams family at it's best!" Dark, dead animals and decor that is extremely outdated. (Chip and Joanna Gaines need to consult for a makeover!)

My final thoughts are that I almost thought I was eating at a hospital cafeteria, based on the lack of originality, blandness, and the repetitive use of certain sauces on multiple foods, pasta, or other. (Gordon Ramsay Help!) Definitely not...

Sunday Labor Day Brunch. We enjoyed with friends. We were here for a quick wedding in Fredericksburg. Stayed at YO. Room left much to be desired. I feel like the entire place could use a good scrub down inside & out with a pressure washer! Rooms were large, but need updating badly. The old west feel is great. Nostalgia is my fave. But let’s spruce it up. Cleanliness is everything. Room had a musty smell. Ventilation not great. Torn curtains, grout stained bathroom & shower. No working vent in bathroom. Sorta felt like there was a “film” on everything we touched. Main entrance is very nice. Very “lodge” feel. Branding Iron Sunday brunch was enjoyable. Prime rib was good. My omelette was delicious.
