All in all, our visit to the Kerrville Starbucks was an unpleasant one. We brought our small Chihuahua mix with us. My wife sat outside while I went in and ordered. The first thing that struck us was the smell. The patio area wreaked of spilled, sour milk, but that was just the beginning. My wife waited outside with our dog, while I went in to order. I asked for two latte's and a 'Puppuccino,' and repeated the 'Puppuccino' part of the order three times to the cashier. The cashier had a flippant, insolent, and conceited manner. Little did I know that he was about to charge me for 2 lattes and 1 cappuccino.
The barista made me 3 cups of coffee, and no 'Puppuccino,' (a free cup of whipped cream Starbucks offered to customers with dogs). I explained that I only ordered 2 lattes and one cup of whipped cream for our dog, so he graciously changed out the extra coffee for the whipped cream.
Walking out, I realized I had been charged for 3 coffees instead of 2, so my wife, who had been waiting outside would have to wait longer and drink her coffee by herself with our dog while I went in to straighten things out.
At first I brought up the issue with the insolent cashier and then the manager stepped in and understood what I was saying and refunded the overcharge.
So I have given one star to the decent and kind barista, and one star for the competent and cordial manager, a minus star for the insolent clerk who got the order wrong, a minus star for the smelly patio, and a minus star for the fact that my wife spent most of her time waiting for me.
And there is one more thing that I have not yet discussed this Starbucks location. The entire place has an uncomfortable air of pretension, that made us tense, even though we were outside, and with our dog. We are senior citizens and could sense an underlying resentment towards older people from 3 young women customers who sat in close proximity to our table. Some think it is not fair to judge an establishment by its customers, however, it is the establishment itself that fosters such attitudes. And I might add, that even though my wife is over 60, she looks about 25 years younger than her age, and is more attractive than any of the young women with their snooty airs.
We are regular patrons of a Starbucks in another city, and never encountered this attitude in a Starbucks before.
We may try it again, but if the patio smell is still there, we'll be making a u-turn back to the...
Read moreA marked deviation among Starbucks sites. I am familiar with hiring, training, and supervisory approaches used by Starbucks. None of them seem to be applied effectively at this site. Drive-thru's do increase the noise level within stores but here, it is exceptionally loud. The staff is responsible for the startling volume here: yelling back and forth among themselves, often accompanied by laughing and miscellaneous noise. The laughing, for example seems so loud and false, mtnat it seems they are there simply to amuse themselves, rather than serve the customer. Even with 7 partners behind the counter, one can expect to wait, and wait, and wait even more, for a simple Latté. Today, 1/9/2017 with two people behind the counter, I simply stood with no one paying any attention, waiting to place an order. Finally, I simply sat down, and didn't order what would have been my second drink for that visit.
Sadly, It's also not unusual, no matter how, many people are working, for the trash receptacles to be so full that not one more cup can be squeezed in. I saw, in such a case, an employee empty one free-standing receptacle, and ignore all the others. And, the trash that doesn't fit ends up on the floor, apparently attracting no one's notice.
I've never encountered another Starbucks with such ongoing problems. As for the store manager....you certainly can't pick them out, if there is indeed one.
I will continue to visit this particular site, since no other chain is in place, but now I know to expect the experience to be mediocre, at best. At least, I'm Hoping for mediocre: that would be an improvement. I am a visitor to this area, and am certainly looking forward to returning home, to an area that maintains the Starbucks quality experience I've...
Read moreThe Kerrville Starbucks really needs to reconfigure their parking/line to be a bit more streamlined, less congested, and certainly a less dangerous setup. With the line going directly through the parking spots in front of the building and the next row, it makes it impossible for those that parked near the building to back out - in particular, if there is any kind of line. If there is, you are guaranteed to have to wait until someone is kind enough to let you pull out and risk somebody coming around the back row to cut in line as if we we are back in the Elementary Cafeteria line. Also, I have to say... The speed of this Starbucks has slowed considerably since first opening. This creates a longer wait inside and outside. I wonder if, since Starbucks does so well, they would consider opening a second location near downtown or up Sidney Baker? Maybe that would take some of the burden off of the Junction Highway location? All in all, the coffee is generally good and the orders are mostly consistently accurate. TIP If you have somewhere you need to be and are just going to "swing through Starbucks," don't assume it will be a quick visit. Leave early. Also, don't park in the very front row against the sidewalk, facing...
