I go here often with my Key West family, which is what locals often call their friends there.
The music is lively and the band is good at excepting requests. Just don't say Free Bird, because they really don't care to play that song.
The bar tenders are usually very friendly, just be respectful to them and don't go waiving you hands or yelling hey buddy or snap your fingers.
There are a total of 13 bars in The Ricks complex, ranging in music style, drink style and entertaiment styles. This is not really a place to bring kids as there isn't much for them to do, unless you stop in Angelina's Pizza for a slice, some lasagna or a soda...they have arcade games while you wait and the pizza is one I preffered spots over others near there.
Travellers tip, that is just rude and really is only going to succeed in making your service slower and inconsistent and that goes for any restaurant, bar, hotel, coffee shop, etceterra, etceterra. Think if someone came to your office and did that, just because they have a service industry job doesn't mean it is any less significant than what you do and in some cases can be a lot more fast paced, annoying and difficult so when they get a customer, patron or guest that is considerate or tips with each drink if you're at a bar (doesn't have to be a lot, but it'll increase your service time...
Read moreWe were on a Key West Pub Crawl and this was our last stop. Our first stop was sister bar, Rick's. Kayla was an awesome bartender at Ricks. Unfortunately our experience at Durty Harry's was not as good. The bald headed bartender (Mike?) at the bar to the left as you walk in the door was rude and treated the pub crawl people as if we were not there. My wife and I sat in the middle of the bar and he waited on everyone around us. He never acknowledged us whatsoever. But more importantly, he was an absolute jerk!
We finally walked away. Went over to the bar to the right of the venue and the young lady could not have been sweeter. She immediately took care of us and apologized for our issues on the other side.
If your bar does not want to be on the pub crawl, you ought to let them know! We paid good money for that and were treated as if they simply didn't want to see us.
We will not go back to Durty Harry's. We will go back to Rick's. The bartender in question could not ever work for me. He wouldn't last a day. People like that who have very little communication skills and an attitude of negativity are bad for your organization. You might want to do something to change...
Read moreI can only rate what i experience. I went to Dirty Harry's to watch my brothers friend play in the band, The Durtbags. The Durtbags were awesome. Their talent and depth was astounding. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them play music that spanned fifty years, and lost little in translation. I would watch them any time i can. Of course, as far as i know, right now they're only playing at Dirty Harrys, in Key West. The bar was cool. A narrow hole in the wall, almost underground. It is colorful, the drinks were tasty, the bartender that served me was polite, and efficient. They have three bars to handle the crowd, once it starts hopping, and a nice small town woodsy ambiance to capture the town of Key West itself. I'll admit, upon entry, I was a bit taken aback by then carrying a man of my age, and actually looking at my ID, as well as the pat down. HOWEVER, as in airports, I welcome through security as opposed to lax, which may result in problems later. I would encourage visitors to take a night, or even a few hours, and visit Durty Harrys, grab a drink, and if you're fortunate enough, experience...
