Our family of 3 (husband, wife, 12 year old daughter) stayed at the resort the week of Christmas. We chose the resort based on reviews and location. I'll try to give you some solid feedback as you consider this resort: ||||Location-Excellent! Right at the pier to be able to see the best sunsets each night. Walking distance to so many things and access on foot to the entire Duval St. Ability to rent scooters, golf carts, etc. right there at the hotel and a couple of feet across from the hotel. ||||Downside to location-Daily wake-ups by multipe roosters crowing! We didn't realize this. At first we were like what?!? The roosters and hens literally roost outside the hotel in the trees at night and they wake-up daily at 4am to crow. It became a joke with us as we woke-up to them, laughed a bit, rolled our eyes, and attempted to go back to sleep. ||||Duval St-so many shops to go in and out and like other tourist places, most sell the same things throughout...overpriced trinkets and clothing. Duval St is happening all the time. There is not really a downtime for Duval St until after 2am when the bars close. Lots of live music and people driving golf carts and vehicles blaring music and their base at all hours of the day and night. Definitely a college party, spring break vibe happening on Duval St. It's quaint and can be enjoyable if you like weaving in and out shoulder to shoulder with several other tourists. ||||Public restrooms in the area are slim to none so plan accordingly. ||||When it rains there, the streets in areas flood...literally to the point there is no way to cross them without about 4-5 inches of standing water. You either wait hours for it to subside or your take your chance and walk through it. That was gross, but part of the experience. ||||Hotel: Quaint, but rundown throughout. The beatings it's taken throught the years from salty waters, humidity, etc. make it a real challenge for the maintenance crew to stay on top of. Our room has rusted out door handles and fixtures going out to the balcony, the handles were loose from the door. ||||The bed was a solid 3/5 for comfort. They don't give you much for blankets so be prepared to ask for more. We asked 2 nights in a row just to get to a good comfort level. Feather pillows are meh....if you like that your head molds to them and that's all they do, they're great....otherwise, not the best. ||||The shower was a 3/5. It has a rain shower head with minimal water pressure. I guess it's okay for the initial rinse off, but then you need to switch it over to the handheld shower piece to get pressure to even get shampoo out of your hair. The supplied shampoo/conditioner and body wash worked well for us and one less thing we had to pack. ||||The bathroom and throughout was all white tile flooring. This showed every piece of everything and quickly looked dirty. I believe housekeeping tried to sweep up daily, but never any mopping. There are 2 small white rugs placed in front of the double sinks in the bathrooms that were never changed out for 5 days. You can imagine what those looked like by the end. ||||A small dorm-sized fridge in the bedroom was handy. No microwave and that was a turnoff. I guess we didn't realize this before booking. Sometimes reheating leftovers or anything really is nice. ||||Room service was okay. The menu is small and pricey and not kid friendly at all. We had room service once for a breakfast. We put the sign out the night before for delivery between 9-930a and it arrived 10 minutes early at 850. When you're vacationing, those 10 minutes matter. It was a small annoyance and we felt rushed to get out of bed to eat before it all got cold. ||||Towels supplied by the hotel to take to the beach or other activities was super nice and we loved that! ||||Our daughter swam in the pool there a few times. Bring your goggles to protect your eyes from all the chlorine. She enjoyed the pool and we enjoyed the pool bar while she swam. The bartenders were all super friendly and conversation was nice. The pool is heated and has a great view for daily sunsets that you can avoid the crowds to see. ||||My daughter and I also did a spa day. We had express facials and express massages. Both services were 25 minutes each. We did buy 3 facial products at the end and gratuity for the services is included. One hour later and about $800 later.....WOWZA. Unless this is something super special or important for you while you travel, I'd say save your money. We did have an excellent experience, but not sure it's worth that price. ||||No sundries here for basic things, just a nice store that sells fancy clothes and locally made jewelry. However, CVS is one block away an we went there a few times for drinks and snacks. ||||We didn't go to the Tin Roof to eat, but another time we may have. The menu wasn't kid friendly and we didn't want to pay that kind of money and have little to nothing for our daughter to enjoy. ||||The folks working with housekeeping don't speak English at all. This was frustrating on a couple of occasions when they came 2 hours before we had requested their services. There was no way to communicate with them at the time. They leave a hang tag to put on your door daily requesting when you'd like their services. It only worked well 3/5 days. ||||You don't need a vehicle to stay at this location. It's $53/night to park it there. We Uber'd a couple times but were able to walk to just about anything we were interested in. We also rented one of the golf carts or the day and that was fun to drive around and explore the island. ||||Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but we wouldn't probably...
Read moreWhen we first arrived, the bathroom in our room was dirty the next morning we told the front desk that our bathroom was dirty and if we could get it cleaned , they said they would immediately get it cleaned and they apologize for it . it was a little disappointing for the room not to be as clean as one would expect for a resort with such great reviews. we told ourselves well it happens we our on vacation that we’ve been looking forward to for 3 months now. A little inconvenience of the bathroom not being as clean wasn’t going to ruin it but unfortunately, the disappointment didn’t stop there. on our third day, we try to use the bath tub in the room which has jets and something they upsell on the rooms for wasn’t functioning. We mentioned it to the night staff how the tub was not functioning, and they said they would send someone to come fix it in the morning that never happened. We mentioned it again to the morning staff and it was completely ignored. The excuse we were given is that the property is going through some construction and renovation, and that they just had a new manager so employees are trying to get used to the new management style ,the two morning staff had been at the job for two months so had no idea how to make it right except for offering to waive a $50 fee which was more insulting than just saying a fake apologies as if $50 was going to make a difference . If that’s the case maybe don’t take any reservations during this time of maintenance and renovation especially when customers are spending over $3000 on a stay across country to be disappointing . We asked simply for toiletries to be refilled in our room and we couldn’t even get that right, they were just left on the front door of the bathroom while we were gone, not even having the decency of putting it inside the bathroom , not sure if my skin color or being a brown person is a factor here. But there wasn’t any reasonable explanation of the lack of care or service to be this poor, we were impressed by all the reviews that we read online about this property and by Costco travel recommending this property come to find out their headquarters is from our home state. Washington state it was so disappointing it was the worst experience ever. We asked on our last day for management to contact us to discuss our stay a little further. We were told by the front desk that he would contact us immediately never happened . For a property that we spent A fair amount to stay in you would think that they would take care of customer service a little higher than a motel 6 . The view was incredible. Spa was out of this world very nice service very friendly staff but when it comes to the hotel itself, you might as well expect 7-Eleven treatment if you’re of color. Staying here was the equivalent of staying at a Motel 6 . Don’t make the same mistake we made stay at the Hyatt. We stayed at that property before it never...

The room felt outdated even though as I understand it they have recently been updated. We had ants on our night stand table the first few nights.
Over all they were not as accommodating as I would expect for the price we paid. I will say the concierge was helpful when renting scooters and reccomending beach locations.
We had a few very odd miscommunications with the front desk; at each step I felt like they had a great opportunity to turn our experience around, and we definitely gave them the opportunity and had open minds.
Upon checking in the young lady couldn’t tell me how much we owed for our stay, just that they were running the card for was “incidentals.” It almost felt like there was a language barrier involved. Turns out the incidentals pended on our card for more than the actual stay. We later found out this is normal but it would have been nice to know up front before stressing over the 2k+ charge. When we had to reach out the next morning for our “Nobel Perks” that were included in the package, one of the ladies at the front kept asking if we received our envelope upon checking in, which we hadn’t. She gave us our vouchers and said she was going to ask the manager about the envelope. When we checked back with the from we never recieved said envelope nor was it explained to us if all that was supposed to come in the envelope was the vouchers, or if more should have been included. We had a very late flight out at the end of our stay and requested a late check out two days prior and again a weird situation followed: she told us that the “Big Guy” was staying here and that made it difficult to accommodate late check outs and we should check back day of. Apparently she meant the owner of the hotel was there and that rubbed us the wrong way. I don’t particularly care who is staying in your hotel. Further, I would think that the owner being present would allow you (and encourage you) to be more accommodating, not less. When we called day of checkout we received 30 more minutes on our checkout time which didn’t make a big difference in, and felt slightly insulting, the 9 hour window we had. They stored our luggage but beyond that it felt like a waste of 9 hours seeing as we couldn’t shower and refresh before our flight after being outside all day. We lounged at the pool but felt restricted, as going from wet bathing suit to airport is not the most comfortable. If there were options for freshening up they were never presented to us.
We won’t return and wouldn’t recommend this hotel to our family. As small as the island is, location isn’t...
