Reviewed May 2, 2016 One of the best pizza places I've ever been to! We went in around 3:30pm on a Saturday. It was empty and while we were there a family came in. We loved all the details in the menu and that they only use fresh ingredients. We were very satisfied by that. We ordered the pepperoni pizza and french fries. We wanted to get the homemade mozzarella sticks but they did not have any ready (note to self to go earlier so we can try them next time). The french fries were good and golden to perfection. The pizza was great (there was a parmesan cheese jar on the table too...we love parmesan cheese sprinkled on our pizza) - this is new york style pizza and the main reason we went to this pizza restaurant. We were very happy we did. One of the best new york style pizzas we have ever had. We cannot wait to go back there again. We will probably try something different - possibly the homemade manicotti, and of course the mozzarella sticks. We will be telling all of our friends about this place when they go to OBX. The waitress, the owner and all of the staff that we saw were very friendly. The lady who brought out the pizza actually served us our first piece each. It was excellent customer service. Water was always filled. It was a great atmosphere as well. Very nice beach feel, casual. Clean bathrooms - foamy soap and the room smelled great. In fact, the whole restaurant was...
Read moreVisited this place several times now and I have mixed feelings. I believe I want to start by saying taking responsibility for shortcomings is important in the restaurant industry, they do not do that as you can see with the responses to customer reviews that are unfavorable. So far this year there is only one decent server and she was the only reason, we've realized, this place was worth going to. We've had other servers that just don't do well and are incredibly slow. I don't mind waiting for good food, so that is part of the problem, be careful what you order. The spaghetti is ok, the fettuccine is ok, the ravioli is disgusting, the house salad is good, and Caesar is a Caesar. It isn't authentic by any means, but it is passable to those that don't know any better. The chicken on the Alfredo was overcooked and undercooked at the same time which rendered it unedible. One time we went and stood there for a long time for the only decent server in there to seat us while others were just standing around chatting. Everything people have said in their negative reviews is true, just beware that regardless of their excuse when they mess up it is on them to fix it and make it right rather than blame shift. Josephine's is up the road, they are authentic, straight with their consumers, and deliver delicious food; give them a try for...
Read moreWent to Max's for dinner on a Thursday in July. Food was ok but the service was horrible. They sat us pretty quickly as they weren't overly busy. It was myself, wife and two 10 year old boys. Placed our order and got our drinks and appetizer. That's pretty much where it went down hill. Took an hour from the time we walked in to get our main dish. The boys set there with empty drinks. The waitress kept walking by us and ignored me everytime I tried to stop her. Finally I all but grabbed her. Told her the boys need drinks and said it had been and hour. Her response "I can't make the kitchen cook any faster. What do you want me to do.". Then I need a beer refill, only had one beer so far. She walked by 12 times. Brought our food and pretty much through it at us, still no beer. A manager, I'm guessing, saw my empty glass on the edge of the table and came over to see it I need one. I told her what was happening and she apologized and brought me a beer. We ate, went to pay our bill and the only thing I was told, by the same women I assume to be management, was that good help is hard to find. Handed me my receipt to sign and point to n.v the tip section and said this is where you get her. I had already left a penny on the table so I just put a 0 and signed my receipt. Needless to say, I will never go back or...
