All 7 members of my group had a negative experience here. The primary issue is that the greens are a very bad combination of too fast and inconsistent. Our party had golf skills ranging from bogey-golf to unable to hit a golf ball, and we've all played many games of putt putt golf at many courses. Still, we were all equally put off by the unique nature of this course in that random bounces and wobbles would make a 2 foot putt turn into 3 more putts zig zagging around the hole. A less important complaint from my group was that the tunnels were, while a neat feature, unbearably hot. We were there at 9pm and the strategy for the tunnel sections for ourselves and every group around us was "run into the tunnel, hit your ball, and run out to breathe again." The idea of a mining cart ride around the course seems cool at face value, but in practice it was just a minute of wasted time and it was disgusting trying to breathe behind the gas-powered locomotive pulling the train. It also took us past man-made pools around the edge of the course in which growing bacteria contributed to the foul stench. The only reason this review isn't a 1 star is because they clearly put effort into a theme that is relevant to the location itself. Unfortunately, that theme sends the wrong message to children (who are primarily influenced by such things) today. My group went to the Paradise Fun Park up the road from here a few days later and had a much more positive experience. Not only are their courses in better condition, allowing for fun for all skill levels, but there are other options to entertain people...
Read moreI just want to extend another sincere thank you for your kindness in serving our family last week. Our entire family (my parents, my sisters and their families, and my own family) have been coming to OBX for the past few years just making memories while we can. And Lost Treasure Golf in Kitty Devil Hills has become a part of this tradition.
So last week the evening of, we all had dinner at the house, got everyone ready and heading out the door for putt-putt, not realizing how early it closed. I think we had about an hour to play by the time we got there and on the course, but our 80 year old daddy, who has been battling cancer among other health issues, wanted in his words “to make memories while he still could.” So we decided that even if we all had to leave halfway through the course, we were going to make these memories.
The staff, in particularly a lady, was gracious enough to let our precious and much-loved dad, and the rest of us, complete all 18 holes. That may not sound like big news to anyone else, but it sure meant the world to this family. We thank our Lord Jesus for blessing Dad with the strength and determination to complete this with his family one more time. It was an evening full of laughs, and maybe not so great golfing…lol, but our hearts were full of thanksgiving.
God bless you all, and your business....
Read moreOverall great mini golf. Your journey begins with a ride on the mine car train from the ticket counter to the first hole. Kind of unique! We did the gold mine trail. It was medium difficulty but fun. Very high quality turf and decorations. Well maintained. Small complaint was that many of the greens seemed almost unintentionally uneven which made them more difficult.
One big complaint. The brick boarder around each hole was often made with sections of brick missing. I suspect in many cases this was to make them more wheelchair friendly. However the result was gaping holes in the boarders, near the hole, where your ball could easily roll off the green and into some water feature. In addition to that some holes like the one in my second picture almost seemed designed to divert your ball with an obstacle in a way that would cause you to lose the ball! In my second picture you can see a V formed by the rock on the green and the brick boarder. At the base of the V the brick is missing, meaning a ball caught in this V gets directed right into the rushing water! We started specing out each hole and posting people at these gaps to divert balls back onto the green if they were headed off. Never had to do this before...
