3709 E Central Texas Expy Killeen, TX 76543 United States
Kudos to Trinity our server who made what could have been a complete disaster at least bearable. The restaurant is cozy. The food is your personal choice. Thank you, Trinity and the others who were there to greet and serve us from beginning to end.
I do not like to speak poorly of an institution when I had a terrible experience because it’s obvious that other people enjoy Texas Roadhouse. Everyone is different.
It has been a couple of decades since I visited Texas Roadhouse and on the spur of the moment we decided to give it a chance. We stayed away from the beef because of dietary issues and we normally just get appetizers anyway. We wanted bone in wings and all they had was boneless. Our mistake.
I want to say that, after speaking with several people, because I want to be fair, that they are in agreement with me that Texas Roadhouse is basically a step up from fast food. Such are the days.
It is clouted as being Texas home cooking and I could not disagree more. I am a Texas gal 100% And what I tasted of the pork half slab I would rate a “C” based on what I grew up eating at my weekly backyard grilling events.
The words falling off the bone are not inaccurate, but everyone has a visualization of juicy meat when those words are used. Juices oozing and dripping from the meat are usually what one visualizes but that’s far from accurate in this experience. I must add that those words dripping were not advertised but alluded to. We found it dry and unpalatable. One taste said leave it. Two tastes confirmed it. My dinner date was hungry and regretted eating it afterwards. We both regretted having eaten at all as the grease and bread did not sit well on the belly.
Other than the half slab rib, we chose the onion bloom, fried pickles, sautéed onions, and rice as a small side. We also were given the free bread. Additionally, someone brought us the quartered potato that’s kind of like a half baked potato with bacon bits on top. No, just no. You’ve heard the name twice baked potato? That’s what it tasted like- a day old baked potato cut open and tried-to-make look fancy with cheese and bacon. To make that worse, it tasted like it had set under the heat lamp way too many hours. Somethings just can’t be made to taste good the day after. But again that’s my personal opinion. We did not order that; it was accidentally brought to us and quickly remedied once the error was noticed.
Thank goodness for the cold Yuengling served in mugs with sides of orange slices. Again, thank you, Trinity, our server and the others who popped in from beginning to end. The wait time is normal. 😁
The bread we simply tasted because we didn’t want to be rude because it’s not on our normal diet as are the other things. It was a cheat day for our diet and so we went for it. We left most of the items on the table uneaten. That’s no fault of Texas Roadhouse other than everything was over salted. If your taste buds are not destroyed by modern day fast foods, then you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Let your own personal experience speak for itself, and if I’ve helped anybody who has never been to Texas Roadhouse, I hope that I’ve answered any questions that you might have had. I apologize for not having more photos, but there was simply no room on the table since it was dressed for four and was quite cluttered from beginning to end.
Happy trails and bon appétit at your favorite food...
Read moreWe decided to eat here for a special occasion and called ahead of time (2-3hrs in advance) as we were a party of 13 with two kids. We also notified front of house when we called that we would need two high chairs. We were told our reservation would be at 5:30 and our entire party needed to be there by 5:50 so we could be seated. Which is fine if we were seated when they said we would be, as we waited an additional 45-50 minutes with our entire party waiting. The waiting wasn’t the main issue but unsatisfactory as we had to ensure they didn’t forget about us 2-3 times. We were told to go see the hostess as our table was ‘ready’ and then proceeded to wait another 10 mins standing in the door way because they couldn’t figure out who our server was. Once taken to our table, a booth and a table, we informed the person who seated us that we needed a high chair. She proceeded to nervously laugh and act like she could not give us a high chair due to fire safety issues/blocking the isle/sitting too close to the table next to us. Our server then comes out to introduce herself, and once we bring up the high chair we tell her that we did call ahead with our reservation requesting two high chairs. As we had 13 adults and two children. She proceeded to, very loudly, inform us that they don’t take reservations (that’s crazy) and when we asked for a different seating assignment/larger table to eat comfortably she very rudely shut us down. After they made a big deal about the high chair for 5 minutes we just decided to figure it out ourselves since they couldn’t be bothered to sit us somewhere comfortably. Our server was very rude to our guest who was literally just wanting to have a high chair for their 1 yr old so they could eat comfortably. Tbh I think we would have been better off going to McDonalds and arranging seating ourselves. Front of house needs to sort themselves out. Menus were sticky and dirty and the overall introduction to this location was poor. After ordering our guest at the end of the table had to put all of our menus next to her on the bench- losing even more room bc our server couldn’t just take them. (We had absolutely no table room and was trying to make some). We also waited an additional 30 minutes for our drinks form the bar. Which would be fine if we didn’t have mainly draft beer, which was also flat. Once time for the bill, (our server did not even ask who was going to be on who’s ticket)so she put it all on one tab. Then we spent about another 30 minutes just waiting on our bills. So basically arrived at 5:30, probably didn’t get seated until 6:30 and did not leave until around 8:20. If you are looking to celebrate an event/attended with a large number of people, I recommend Bubba’s or another establishment. The lack of service and poor management pretty much ruined this experience and will...
Read moreWent out to celebrate my husband's bday. We ordered our food which I was so looking forward to it because we go every year for his bday. I ordered my favorite dish the beef kabob. And I took my first piece of the meat, started to chew it and felt something hard in my mouth. I searched for it found it and it was a small piece of metal like what comes off the brushes that you use to clean the grills. I was horrified had I not continued searching for that and actually swallowed disregarding it. Thinking it could have just been a small bone or just a piece of cartilage, I would have probably been in the emergency room later on in the evening or sometime after when my body would have reacted to that foreign piece of metal. I alerted the staff they sent a manager over who I showed it to. She then took a picture of it and took the picture to the back I guess to ask them what it could be. She then came and told me it didn't look like anything from the back I suggested it could be from something like the metal brushes used to clean grills she said it couldn't be cause there's are screwed in really tight. Which made me confused about what she was even thinking. Anyway she said my meal would be removed from the bill. She took my plate and the small metal piece. She asked if there was anything else I would like to order. Well no I like only that really so I reorder that and brought it home because that's how long everything took from the back and forth to the reordering being complete, my husband was already finished with his meal. But let me say I am afraid of eating the meal I brought home. Even if I would have ordered anything else it's still made on the grill. So I was nervous about reordering anything. And to add the person who brought me my order apologized but SHE even said it was probably what they clean the grills with. That made me feel like yup I knew it. I mean that's the only thing I could think it could have been too. I'm just so glad I didn't swallow it. I used my better judgment. The reason for this review is to make TRH aware of this because what if it was a kid and he/ she would have just swallowed that? That would have caused alot of health problems for something so small. Texas Roadhouse has to think of a better way to clean their grills I would suggest. This can't be the first time this has happened. Or use better quality brushes. I'm sure a change can...
