Ra Ra’s Ice Cream Shop — Restaurant in Killingly

1st time I’ve visited since new ownership/location. So that could be why I wasn’t as pleased as I had hoped.

I remember actually throwing away some ice cream because it was “too much” to finish with the old Ra Ra’s. But that’s not the case anymore.

Probably the thing that was most “disappointing” was; a simple issue, and an extremely small issue, but whether it was communication issue, not clearly stated on our end, or a mistake during the prepping of our ice cream, some toppings got missed. While yes, once requested we were helped promptly, but I was sure to be told that “we usually charge $1 for extra toppings.” Ummm, ok… I wasn’t saying I wanted anything for free, I was under the impression we paid for the “extra toppings” during the initial order. After paying for the food, adding a tip (which is never a problem for me) I would have still paid the extra $1 or $2 for the topping, had I not paid for it in the 1st place.

I still said thank you, and stayed pleasant. But I don’t know, it just rubbed me the wrong way. Almost like I was made to feel like I was “getting one over on someone”.

Will I come back? Yes. Is the ice cream delicious? Yes. Was the initial transaction great? Yes, everything was spot on, even speedy, until...

The service here sucked. I would say it’s because today’s youth does not listen, but it was a case of today’s youth just not communicating. I gave the girls specific details as to what I wanted Heath topping on the bottom, the three scoop ice cream on top of that Heath on the top whipped cream. Very simple. She did not tell the girl that made the order how it was supposed to be and they did not give me nowhere near three scoops of ice cream, And then proceeded to hide The fact that they didn’t give me three scoops of ice cream with whipped cream. No, I love whipped cream, so I’m not mad about that.

It’s not like the ice cream was bad. The ice cream was actually good. They had the toppings I want and the whipped cream was great. The problem was is that they are completely covered by overgrowth no lighting, except until you get to the counter, so you’re walking in the dark down sidewalk after you’ve driven down the road with no lights and parked in a parking lot with no lights.

I 1000% recommend Ra Ra’s Ice Cream Shop! I couldn’t dream of a better place to take my son for ice cream, this is our go to place. And by go-to, I mean we literally go nowhere else. Really great prices, friendly and welcoming staff, great little spot for kids to run around, and they have so much more to offer than most places. How many places in our neck of the woods have more than 3 flavors of soft serve?!
