We stopped here due to Yelp reviews. We are glad we stopped! The food is QUITE good. We got the Mickey Mouse pancakes with bacon. It is a great deal at $3.50! Another child got a short stack and added the 2 eggs and 2 sausage. Another child get a cheeseburger with fries. She is autistic and specifically said she wanted extra fries and the waitress was sweet enough to ask the cook to throw in a few extra. <3 I got the patty melt and hubby got a 50/50 burger. My husband said the 50/50 burger was REALLY REALLY good (his words...LOL). He said it was like meatloaf without the seasoning. That the burger was a bit softer in texture and a bit fatty. He LOVED it! I got the Patty Melt. The hamburger was delicious! My only ONE POSSIBLE critic is that the onions were not really caramelized as I would expect for a patty melt as they were more sauteed until soft and translucent. The meat was wonderful and so was the rye. You do not see rye served much anymore but it is one of my favorite breads! The kids LOVED the cheeseburger SO MUCH we had to order ANOTHER cheeseburger and fries that they shared! LOL I would highly recommend this restaurant. Expect to spend about $12-$15 per person for your food, tax, and tip as we spent about $68 for 5 people. We founds out from a staff member that the building was initially the third Denny's ever built in the US! Neat trivia fact!

Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 - two of the three dishes were amazing but lost a point for the sad omelette - 5/5 - Country fried steak dinner with sunny side up eggs, mashed potatoes, and English muffin. They were super generous with the sauce which was over the steak and potatoes and it was AMAZING! The steak was thin and tender. The sunny side up eggs were fried well with a nice bite but still wonderfully runny without being oily - 5/5 - NY Steak 8 oz with scrambled eggs, hash browns, and sourdough bread. We asked for the steak medium rare and it was still pink inside, great cook! It has a subtle smoky taste which complimented it well. The bread was nicely buttered and toasted - 2/5 - Philly cheese steak omelette with hash browns and white bread. The omelette was over cooked and dry. While there was a slice of cheese melted on top, it was quite chewy and had an old oil taste. They provided a salsa which had a bit of acidity but couldn't save the omelette Ambience: 5/5 - super cozy atmosphere and family vibe. They added extension for the booths. Service: 5/5 - Danny was super friendly and attentive. Not used to this type of hospitality but it was appreciated :D Value for price: 5/5 - great meal and wonderful service. On Route 66 which can be extremely touristy but the price was reasonable

The restaurant's decor is a delightful throwback to the 1950s, complete with checkered floors, retro booths, and vintage memorabilia adorning the walls. The friendly staff, , adds to the nostalgic vibe, making you feel that you went back to the past. The menu is a tribute to classic American comfort food. My Favourite is Eggs Wellington & Chicken Fried Steak Eggs Wellington is delightful twist on a classic. The dish features perfectly poached eggs wrapped in a flaky pastry with a savory mushroom duxelles. The eggs are cooked to perfection, with a runny yolk that complements the earthy mushrooms and buttery pastry. Served with a light hollandaise sauce, this dish is both rich and satisfying, making it a standout choice for all days. The Chicken Fried Steak The Chicken Fried Steak is a comforting classic that doesn’t disappoint. The steak is tender and well-seasoned, coated in a crispy, golden-brown crust. It's served with a generous helping of creamy mashed potatoes and rich, peppery gravy. It's beef indeed but taste like chicken with its tenderness. This dish is hearty and flavorful, capturing the essence of Southern comfort food that Rutherford's is known for. Perfect for those craving a filling and indulgent meal. Highly recommend!

My goodness, where to start? Me and my wife stop in for some breakfest on route 66. We chose this diner specifically because of the reviews and breakfest menu options.

We walked in, diners usually have sit your own self seating arrangements. However, I guess this place has a please wait to be seated sign? We didnt see it. But the girl with piercings at the counter made that known with her nasty facial gestures and pitiful attitude towards not only us, but other customers.

I ordered a country fried steak with country potatoes, eggs and sourdough toast with a soft drink, my wife ordered French toast with hashbrowns.

My diet soda tasted like it was mixed with the whole fountain's syrups. I asked for a new one and it still tasted the same.

The server forgot my sourdough toast, I asked for them, she came back with the check!! Can you believe that! So while I'm finishing up some of my order, I start to dig into the country potatoes. Raw peppers AND Raw onions, overcooked potatoes.

My wife's food was subpar. The French toast was a little overdone but didn't stop my wife from loving it. Hashbrowns were very very bland. Dumped the rest of the low salt and pepper containers on the hasbrowns to improve the potatoes. Didn't work that well. Just nasty potatoes.

The hygiene and food handling practices this resteraunt practices is astonishing! Servers Stacking plates on top of fresh food, up and down the forearms, fingers being dipped into food just by handling too many plates. Then not washing the hands after wiping said food off of fingers. It's not busy at all in there, they can come back for plates. That's why it's so confusing. It's straight laziness.

The cooks were concerning too. No hair nets, facial hair, one dude was wearing his hat from home. No gloves, which I assure you is concerning here.

The actual diner is old. Decor outside looks like junk, we had to call to confirm they are even open. All the blinds were broken and shut, with the open sign off. The parking lot for this establishment is behind its building because the building is on the road. The booths are falling apart, apparently we couldn't sit up at the bar like we wanted to.

Overall, for my first time in a diner in a long while, this had to of been some of the worst food I have ever eaten. This place feels like it's given up. Like we weren't even welcomed, like it was someone's filthy home we were trying to eat in.

The server was nice just forgetful, the bar waitress was the rude one.

Definitely not what we were hoping for from the iconic...

When we got there it wasn't busy at all had a great greeting from Danny. Having never eaten here we took awhile to decide on food and a few more people showed up. Danny remained attentive and happy. After ordering there was a minor oops they were out of a sauce no big deal I modified my order. When the order was up there was another order very similar (I ordered chicken the other customer ordered pork chops) minor miscommunication I eneded up with pork chops he needed up with chicken I took a bite (was hungry not paying close attention) realized and pointed it out. Both servers were visibly upset at the mix up and wound up having to toss the mixed up food. Again it happens, for us it was no big deal Danny looked crestfallen he lost the spring in his step and looked like we had kicked his puppy. After profuse apologies (entirely unnecessary but appreciated) he comped both my wife and my dinners which was totally above and beyond. Afterwards we were trying to pay for our meal and Danny insisted it was comped refused to take payment and was shocked and tried to refuse when I tipped him. He deserved it he had given us great service despite a minor miscommunication it happens and we were in no way upset about it. I've had servers who have admittedly and purposely messed up orders and been uncaring or outright rude about it when the oops happens and I try not to be "that guy" unless it's warranted and they act like they really don't care. Then they've been rude when you leave a blatant "you did a bad job serving today" tip of a few cents but I've never had a server comp an entire meal and be so upset over an honest mistake and then try to refuse an honestly earned tip.

To wrap this up: Danny you did a great job your service was superb and I feel really bad you didn't let us pay for our meal (we do appreciate it though). On this experience alone we will be back to the manager/owner whomever reads this please give him a pat on the back and tell him to keep up the good work.

Also by the time we left the place was packed and the food was good....

I searched out restaurants for a Phoenix to Las Vegas trip and zeroed in on Rutherford's 66 Family Diner after browsing reviews for several places along historic Route 66. I had my cousin's kids with me for the trip and we were all happy with the food and the service. I got the Philly cheesesteak with added jalapeños and it was one of the best I've had anywhere! The bread was soft and squishy, the meat was tender and lean, the veggies and mushrooms were sautéed to perfection, and gooey melted provolone tied it all together. 10/10 would recommend the Philly, and 10/10 would recommend the added jalapeños if you want a little kick to it.

As for the kids meals, one kid got the kid's chicken tenders with fries. Looked a little skimpy to me with a standard amount of fries, but only two large chicken tenders. Turns out that I'm big and old, so there was actually way more food there than needed for a kid of 8 years old, and a some didn't get finished. The tenders and the fries got a rave review from the young customer!

The other older kid (age 11) got the Mickey Mouse pancakes. They sorta resembled the outline of Mickey, but no real details to sell the idea. Apparently though they were very delicious and got gobbled down! Also came with bacon and a sausage, as well as maple syrup and a huge cup of butter.

We were all happy with our meals, the staff, and the ambiance and plan to visit again on the next trip...
