Waffle House — Restaurant in Kingsport

Me and a friend came in today (1-6-23) around 6:50am. We came in and sat down. No one greeted us, and we sat down for 15-20min and no one brought us a menu or asked what we wanted to drink. All while the two girls who were working were just carrying on a conversation amongst themselves and helping everyone else. It wasn’t until one of the women saw that I was vehemently staring at her because we still hadn’t been helped. She responds by saying “someone will be with you shortly”. It took another 10-15min for 2 other ladies to come out. Another 10 min past and another woman tells me “we will be with you shortly”. Finally a woman comes and we order. I ordered the all star breakfast. I asked for my eggs scrambled with cheese and my grits with cheese as well. I asked to substitute the toast for extra sausage Pattie’s and for my waffle to be lite. My friend asked for the Steak and eggs. When our food came out, my waffle was burnt and hard as a rock (have a video of it), the toast was still on my plate (no extra sausage pattie) and my friend never got his steak. This has to be the epitome of bad service at its finest. And I hate to say this, but me and my friend ( a black male and a Latino male) were the only non Caucasians in the restaurant. I don’t want to make any assumptions, but we letting feeling as if no one wanted to or cared enough to treat us with respect. This will be our last time eating here and I would recommend anyone who is reading this to go...

Normally, I’ve had good experiences the few times we’ve been. Today was nothing like any of the other experiences. Naturally, it was busy today. Which is not a problem. We were willing to wait. Once something came available, we took a seat. We sat down. We grabbed our menus. We sat for about 20 mins and no one had even approached us for drinks. We sat and sat and waited and waited. We were being patient. We knew they were busy so we just waited our turn. I don’t have a problem with waiting. And I understand that you get busy. I’m a pretty patient person. What set me off was the fact we had been sitting there for 20 mins. Had been acknowledged by at least one staff. And then a family walks in sits down and immediately gets served. By the staff member who acknowledge us sitting there!!! Not to mention their was a woman sitting beside us who had been sitting there waiting on her food that never came. Also taken by the same staff member. It was obvious we hadn’t ordered bc menus were sitting in front of us. We ultimately got up and left because we were furious with the complete lack of concern...

My husband and I arrived at 5:30a on 3/3. The waitress sitting at a table and the cook both looked at us when we parked up front. We walked inside…no greeting or even one word spoken to us. We sat at a table for a few minutes and still nothing. The waitress, still sitting at the table, overheard my husband inquire about menus. She finally spoke in the rudest tone possible saying “uh, it’ll be about 20 minutes, he’s cleaning the grill”. Then looks back at her paper or whatever it was she was doing. Us, realizing we were inconveniencing them, got up and walked out. Nothing else was said. I can guarantee WH we’ll never go back to this location. I don’t like WH, but it’s one of my husband’s favorite places. The worst part is I’ve been working 12 hr nights and him 12 hr days for the last five weeks. I arranged to leave work early and he woke up earlier so we could eat breakfast at WH and spend time together before he went into work. Needless to say, our plans were ruined and so was our morning.
