I used the drive through (I had a coupon buy one platter and get one free) ordering 2 large shrimp platters with fries and slaw in one platter and Brunswick stew with baked beans in the other platter. The cashier looked at the coupon trying to make it burn up in flames, looked at me, looked back at me coupon and acted like he was typing the information when he finally said, I have to ask my manager if we are still accepting coupons and left. He came back saying that it was ok for me to use it. I specifically asked if they could/would put my fries and hush puppies in a paper bag ( otherwise they will become soft, mushy and limp as an old man’s mini me cooling quicker) because I was going to eat them on my way home to E.I. I was told sure Pictures attached to this review is what I received four platters with a child’s shrimp with one hush puppy in two platters. I ate one puppy and was going to put all of it into two platters when I noticed the hair in one of the platters and that is the actual amount of fries I received and they were in the platter just like pictured nice and soft with a nice limp to them. The shrimp are actually popcorn size and fried just right, however, I don’t want to eat anything else after finding the hair as it ruined my appetite. The fries and hush puppy I would’ve trashed and just ate the slaw and shrimp. I know it’s not BK and I can’t (didn’t) have it my way but I didn’t order a side of hair. I tried posting other pictures but the site wouldn’t allow me to, so I posted what was most relevant. I haven’t patronized Smithfields Chicken -N-BBQ for several years since China bought the franchise because the food actually makes me sick(Q...
Read moreI have loved eating at smithfields in Other North Carolina cities for years. When this restaurant came to Kinston we were all excited. It was good for about a month or two. Then it started to decline in service and the quality of food. Every time we drive-through the people at the window are very rude and nasty and often get the order wrong. Most of the time they are either out of chicken or out of barbecue; I don’t understand how a chicken and barbecue place could be out of either one on a consistent basis. Chick-fil-A which is right next-door is always wrapped around the building because they have good quality service and food, While Smithfield‘s next-door usually has one or two cars there, obviously because their service is extraordinarily poor and their food selection and quality has been terrible on a consistent basis. If I were the district or regional manager I would fire all the employees and replace them with good quality employees and determine the reasons for the poor service and the poor quality food and reasons for being out of food consistently. It is a shame that this restaurant has only been there a year or so and only has a 4.0 average. Most Smithfield chicken and barbecue restaurants that I have been to have very high standards. This one obviously does not and the poor amount of business that it is doing is proof. I strongly recommend a district or regional manager or upper management look into these matters and get them corrected as soon as possible before they have to close...
Read moreMy husband last week stopped by to get lunch while working in Kinston. He told me he knew something was up when the line had no one in it, but there were long lines at Chick A Filet and McDonald’s. Still, he needed to have a quick lunch. We have found SCNB usually have great food quality and service.
My husband ordered a chicken tender sandwich with fries and an unsweetened tea with light ice and requested Splenda and he asked for 2 red sauces.
He knew he was in trouble when he pulled around and saw that the restaurant rating was a 90. Still, he needed a quick lunch and it already committed. They gave him the wrong sandwich, a barbecue sandwich rather than the chicken tender sandwich that he ordered. The fries were old tasting. What are the red sauce it was already busted open that they had given to him and almost got all over his vehicle. And they ended up giving him a medium tea packed with ice and no Splenda.
Usually he would chalk this up as just another bad experience at a restaurant in this town and one that he would avoid. But, our experience with the Smithfield chain is usually the food is excellent and the service is on point. Very...
