Tonight we celebrated a birthday at Charley's and this was our first time to dine here. Service is wonderful and friendly. The menu has quite a few items listed and we chose to start with CRISPY PORTABELLA MUSHROOM FONDUE $16. This was aa very large portion that could have been shared by 4 or more people. This was delicious and we loved it. We ordered the 12 oz USDA CHOICE FILET MIGNON $54 and the DOUBLE CHICKEN BREAST $24. Each dinner entree came with a house salad and no addItional side. We ordered a side of BACON & CHEDDAR MASHED to share for $10. They also serve a nice soft roll with cheese on top. For dessert we ordered the Sweet Butter Cake which is described as Sweet Buttery Crunch Cake Served Warm, Salty Caramel Ice Cream $15 and we shared this. The FIlet Mignonette and chicken were both very flavorful with a nice smoky flavor. The dessert was incredibly tasty and cooked to order. Served warm with a nice outer crust and super soft inside served with a salted caramel ice cream on top and a side of fresh whipped cream. Hicham was our server and he was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and about each and every cut of steak. While this was quite a pricey meal for the two of us, each thing we ordered, we enjoyed very very much. One of us ordered 1 glass of wine and we ordered ice water to drink. Our total bill with tip was $164.
This week we celebrated my husbands birthday at Charlie’s Steakhouse in Kissimmee just across highway 192 from Celebration. This was our second time at this restaurant and we took my Mom for her first time. We do not usually go to restaurants this expensive, but for a special occasion, we splurged and the food is really really tasty. I consider this a white tablecloth restaurant where the servers are all dressed formally and I feel like it’s a place where I want to dress nicer than our typical normal Florida attire of shorts. We did not order an appetizer and entrees we ordered were 8 Oz Filet ($55), Double Chicken Breast ($29)and the Single Pork Chop ($27). This is the thickest Pork Chop we have ever seen. The Double Chicken breast is huge and flavored nicely without a sauce. Sides at this restaurant are shareable sized so the three of us ordered Garlic Mashed Potatoes ($13) and Sautéed Mushroom ($13). With each entree, they serve a house salad with a tasty vinaigrette dressing and they serve a basket of soft dinner rolls with a light sprinkle of cheese crisped on top. Before deciding, the server brings out a tray with a sample of each of the cuts of steak and explains each one. All of the food is very good. Service is excellent and the restaurant has a full bar and an extensive wine list. When we made the reservation, I shared that we were celebrating a birthday. Since we were so full from the meal, we didn’t order dessert. The server surprised my husband with a parfait glass of ice cream served on a plate that they write Happy Birthday in strawberry sauce on. What was surprising is that we were charged fir this ($8). It was a nice surprise but not so cool that they charged us for it, especially because we didn’t ask for it. The restaurant really should re-think this. I didn’t draw attention to this as I didn’t want my husband to...
Read moreIt's absolutely fantastic. I'm almost speechless. This is the first time I've eaten here. The 2 other gentlemen in my party have eaten here 1 and 4 times, respectively. They had nothing but great things to say, so needless to say, my expectations bar was kinda high already. We received the best service from Orlando "Chicago", He was so accommodating, and with my dairy allergy, I was very, very pleased with his attention to detail on everything I ordered.
The cocktails were delicious, I had the Blueberry Mojito and later the watermelon celebration martini, both were good, I personally enjoyed the watermelon more. The history of how the different cuts of meat were prepared, the specials of the day and the cuts of meat described and shown had my mouth watering before even receiving any food. The gentleman ordered the gator bites as an appetizer, and they I loved it.
I ordered the filet mignon 8oz with the butterflied shrimp topped with lumb crab meat and it was so juicy, tender and flavorful! The other plates ordered were the Kentucky bone in ny strip and the dry aged ribeye. I had the pleasure of trying a bite of each from the above and they were equally as tender and flavorful. I must enjoy a fattier cut as i actually enjoyed the ribeye the most out of the 3, perfectly marbled, not chewy or tough at all. I will definitely hope to be back again and I'll order the ribeye next time! Thank you Orlando!
Edit- we came back again in August 2024, it was the busy season [my previous comments above were in may, their slow season] and it really was super busy at 8pm on friday night! We had a reservation for 8pm, we got there at 745pm, got seated immediately at our table that had orchids and a nice card since it was my birthday. It took about 20 minutes for the waiter to come to our table to greet us. It was after 8pm we got our water and spoke to the waiter to order drinks. There were a few large parties around us this time so it was really busy, unlike before. They brought our drinks and gave us a free appetizer, mini meatballs. Sadly i couldn't have it since it had dairy. Besides that, I mentioned my dairy allergy like usual. We ordered our food, i asked for no cheese and extra olive tapanade on my salad since it was so yummy last time[didn't get extra olives]. The bread came later Just a few minutes before the food, it was their signature cheese bread, i couldn't have it. [Last time they gave me my own bread with no cheese, not this time] my husband loved it! We got the dry aged porterhouse and dry aged ribeye. It was delicious! Service on this visit was a bit lackluster, but maybe since our first visit was so amazing and accommodating that I had very very high standards for our next visit.
Overall, out my my 2 visits, we will be back since the foodsl is so good and I'll ask to get orlando[our first server] if possible, ask for the extras we got the first time, and we will come during...
Read moreWe were able to grab a reservation fairly easily. We booked for 4, our 4th person said she wouldn't make it, so we were seated for 3, about an hour later, our 4th arrived and had someone with her. They were able to accommodate them with a table behind us. I thought that was kind. Valet is complimentary. This matters because ALL of the parking spots within a decent vicinity of the restaurant is blocked off with cones. Another thing to note is that the restaurant is located in the back of the Plaza. The address listed online takes you to the Kobe Japanese restaurant in the front of the Plaza. Go on around to the very back, and you'll see Charley's. Dao was our server. So if it's your 1st visit, the do a whole meat presentation for you showcasing their cuts of steak and all ginormous lobster 🦞 They also offer to cut up your steak for you or chop up the lobster. All in all, they want you to be happy and pleased with your order. Dao, our server, only dropped the ball once. We ordered Sprite and lemonade, and I swear it took 20 minutes to get it. He immediately admitted he forgot but then instantly followed up with an excuse and kinda blamed the bar (because they made the lemonade). No one takes 20 minutes, Dao. No one! But i digress... The food was good. Im not sure if they have regular steak sauce (A1, Heinz 57) because I didn't need any. However, my husband asked for some, and Dao bought out this gravy looking peppercorn sauce that they make in-house. It was warm, too. My husband enjoyed it. They charge for it ($6). The entire starter/appetizer lineup is seafood except 1, steak tartar. We don't eat seafood, except for fried shrimp. All entrees come with a house salad. The house salad doesn't come with croutons. Omg. You can ask for them, tho. I was just shocked. Anyway, you can not sub a Ceasar salad instead of the house salad. So I had to pay full price for the Ceasar. Fine. That salad is HUGE. It's good, but here's what I didn't like: the romaine lettuce wasn't chopped, so I had to cut it up. That's it. I worked hard chopping that damn salad. I didn't eat but slightly less than half. If you eat that whole salad, you won't eat your meal. Here's a rundown of everything else: The fried shrimp is named colossal because they are. They are huge. Freakishly huge. And good. The pork chop is very thick. 1 is sufficient. 2 will put you in a food coma. They're juicy, too. Steaks were good. I didn't need sauce. They were seasoned well and tender. The chicken looked like a chicken picatta. I dont think it said that on the menu, so I'm glad I didn't order it. The broccoli was just ok. You pay for the amount they give you, not the taste. It was beyond basic. The...
