We were a table of 6 (4 adults - 2 kids). Two adults arrived early, sat down and asked to order the kids meals now so they didn't have to wait when they arrived in a few minutes. The waiter took our drink order and the kids order.
Approximately 5 minutes later, the rest of our party arrived. We looked over the menu and placed the rest of the orders. The restaurant was a quarter full, so I anticipated fast service and food delivery. Was I wrong!
Over 45 minutes went by and the kids meals were still not served. The waiter, along with the rest were talking and laughing in the isolated area where the coffee, soda dispensers is located.
When the waiter finally came around I asked where the kids meals were that we ordered near an hour ago. He said the order was in, but didn't offer to check with the Kitchen Manager.
After an hour and ten minutes, the kids meals arrived. However, one meal was missing a side order. That arrived about ten minutes later when the rest of their meal was finished.
The rest of our meals arrived one at a time at differing times. I asked the server to have the manager stop by the table. Several minutes later the Manager arrived. This person was nowhere in the front of the house during the hour and a half we were in the restaurant. She said the server asked her to come to the table. I expressed my dissatisfaction for the time it took to serve us and then showed her the butchered Club Sandwich that was served to me. She acknowledged the sandwich and said they actually made it with white bread initially and then had to make it with whole wheat bread. However, based on visual inspection, they attempted to make the sandwich with the same ingredients that were already cut in triangles during the first attempt. Who does that?
I am a frequent Metro Diner visitor in Jacksonville and other locations. This location is by far the worst I have ever visited. I fact, I visited this location 4 years ago and it was the same bad experience. Unfortunately, I forgot I had the displeasure of eating here before entering...

I deliver for this establishment third party and I live here so I tried to order here multiple times and every single time I try to place a to go order the staff are always too busy literally money walking out the door! this is the third time where I've stand there waiting just to be greeted and today they were not busy I try to places to go order I sat there for 12 minutes nobody said hello nothing two servers standing over to the corner after they got done put in their orders in and they're just chatting amongst themselves and I'm standing there I walked up to the host the black woman said oh somebody would be there nobody came so I come back to her and I'm like I'm just trying to place a to go order She gives me a sarcastic oh I understand never want to go past the message along no sense of urgency no care in the world as she stood there doing nothing She literally was doing nothing!! she's a part of the staff and if she sees that the servers are not in the area or busy and there's nobody walking through their door she should be able to attend to the to-go order to pass it along because money just walked out the door because of the lack of professionalism the lack of acknowledgment and also every single time I come to pick up to go orders it's always a hassle trying to get the attention of a server. It seems like they only care about the people that are sitting down and the people that are ordering take out or pick up to go orders are just as IMPORTANT as a people that are sitting. I took the time multiple times out of my brakes to try coming to eat here and I always get discouraged because the staff are always too busy to even say hello "I'll be right with you"I understand that they get busy but a simple "one moment "how you doing "hello I'll be right there so easy. Read moreLongest Wait Time. Never Again! (FOOD WAS COLD) - (CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS POOR) When I walked through the door it took them 5 minutes to say something to me. Once seated the wait was long for a server and there were people that were seated after me who got a server right away.
I ordered the fruity waffle, decaf coffee and my wife ordered the chicken pot pie. I asked the server as soon as my waffle comes out please bring it to me right away because I like my food how. The server assured me she would do that as standard protocol.
My fruity waffle sat on the counter for 5 minutes, then another server finally brought the fruity waffle to me and I told her my food has been sitting on the counter for 5 minutes so it’s probably cold now, so I touched the top and bottom of the waffle and it was cold. I told the sever to send it back and make another one, and please make sure it comes right away. She addressed my original server who now finally waited at the counter for it to come out, but now it’s taking them 10 minutes to make another waffle.
At this point my wife has finished her chicken pot pie. I told the server just don’t worry about and take it off the bill. “This is Unacceptable”. I didn’t even get an apology. The customer service is shot.
And also the coffee tastes like MUDD so I had to send that back too. The pot pie wasn’t all that great but it did the job.
This use to be one of my favorite places but something has changed. I don’t think I’m coming back.
