So I was in the area in April for my semi annual check on the retirement home get some work done and donate some money to the Kissimmee - St. Cloud economy trip and I decided that after years of driving by I would finally stop in and try this place.
As others have said it has a cute English Pub look on the outside and inside has that local bar look but with a mix of locals and tourists that all look like they are totally at home in this type of place. There is a jukebox and several televisions playing sports and whatever and a large bar.
Table service was by the bar tender and I think someone from the kitchen brought some of our food to the table. The service was on par with the establishment, friendly but not all over you either. I do recall that I had to go to the bar to pay my tab, that was alright as we were in no hurry to get out of there because it started pouring just about when we ordered dinner and it was still raining when we left and no one was trying to rush us out.
Dinner was really good, We had a Scotch Egg, Shepherds Pie, Bangers and Mash and a half order of Fish and chips at our table and everyone was happy including the seven year old. In the end the bill was around $40 with tip and drinks so not bad I thought.
The big question is if I would go back and the answer is yes. So why the four stars, simple I liked the place, really genuinely five stars liked it but it is rough around the edges and not in a isn't it quaint how they made it look like a real bar "Chillies" kind of way, quaint and rough around the edges in a this is a real bar kind of way I like that and my family likes that,...
Read moreOK! So, while having a wonderful two weeks in Kissimmee, Florida, we all got distinctly fed up with being offered only burgers, fries or chicken wings. I really don't get what our cousin's, the yanks, eat that is healthy. Anyway, we decided to find an 'English' pub down the 192, Irlo 'Bud' Bronson Memorial Highway, near where we had hired a villa. We found the Fox & Hounds pub along that road and went in for a meal. The staff were very friendly (I have always found the majority of Americans friendly, especially in their own country), the drinks were cheap and the menu varied, with 'English' sounding dishes. We ordered and the three girls went for the safety of fish & chips. The chips passed muster, but the fish was cooked from frozen and underdone. I went straight for my favourite meal of all time - Shepherd's Pie (or Cottage Pie). It was discussing and resembled something a sick Labrador had just regurgitated. But, hey, it was cheap. Talking of 'English' or 'Irish' pubs in Florida, I have visited several, two at Downtown Disney (now Disney Springs) and, more recently, one at Universal. They should be prosecuted under the Trades Descriptions Act (if they have such a thing in Florida), because the premises, staff, food or ambience have nothing in common with pubs as we know them on this side of 'the pond's. Back to The Fox & Hounds. Don't go there for food, but by all means visit for the company (none of whom are English in any way) and the drinks. I realise it's unlikely that anyone reading this will visit The Fox & Hounds on the 192, but it's nice to know...
Read moreWhat is there to say about this gem, it's a spot where the locals to Kissimmee go, but you'll find the most eccentric group of people ever. It's like a family there. Starting from the bartenders to the patrons, everyone knows one another and it really feels like a place that should not work, but it does.
It is literally the definition of a melting pot, great drinks, the food is consistently great - the wings deserve a very strong recommendation. I get mine plain, extra crispy with sauce on the side.
Starting with the kitchen staff, you have Justin, Mark, Keeyon and Jared and each one will make you some of the best food you've ever had and by far some of the best you've had in a bar.
Your friendly bartenders will be Brian, Kat, Aubrey, Tina and more (sorry if I'm missing anyone, still love you all), these are the masterminds behind the cocktails you will not remember after 12 AM. If you are open to suggestions, it is a staple to try the Trash Can if this is the first time you're stepping inside.
I hope this is able to help anyone out there when thinking about...
