Wherever you go, eat where the locals eat. You know why, I don't have to tell you. Insider's secret: the Chef serves a Polish tater-tot, which should not be missed. It is included with some specials, but you might get it with a regular dish--ask kindly and longingly. Also, get the wedding kielbasa as a side to any dish for a real treat. Oh, you've had kielbasa, well you haven't had wedding kielbasa. The hollandaise sauce is exquisite. Its equal I have not found. Kasha's Kitchen very quickly became a local favorite. They continue to evolve their menu with delicious results. Consider their Benedict of either Polish ham or Polish bacon on a Portuguese roll. Who knew these cultures could mingle in such an exquisite delight? When available, DO NOT pass up the breakfast strawberry Polish pound cake, which you would order in place of french toast or pancake and have with maple syrup. This is usually offered as a special, but if enough of us order it, we may convince Kasha to make it a regular item. See the picture below. Don't miss this hidden gem while traveling Route 1 Kittery. Look for the Sunoco station. If you are handicapped, try to find a space right at the door of Kasha's kitchen. There is a paved ramp from the parking lot to the entrance of the restaurant. You'll have no trouble with handicap access. Also, their bathrooms are handicap accessible and big. All the food is made to order, so I'm sure you'll be pleased with anything you get. I'm reticent to give these kitchen secrets lest the establishment becomes so busy that I have to wait outside, but I'll be kind. Whatever you order make it exquisite by getting a side of their superb hollandaise sauce. When the fried dough is available, order it for the table. You'll be the hero. When you're in Kittery and hungry for breakfast or lunch make a stop at Kasha's kitchen.

Call at least a month in advance to get a reservation for their monthly dinners - and wear stretchy pants because you will roll out of there stuffed to the gills with great food. The prix fixe menu gives you a great variety of traditional tastes: April had a sampler of pierogi, golabek (cabbage roll in tomato sauce), Weselna-style kielbasa and grilled sauerkraut, marinated hand-cut bacon, borscht, and a potato cake with dill sauce; gulash over Kaszakiem potato pie with buckwheat & onion; and karpatka (pastry with vanilla pudding butter cream topped with fruit and whipped cream). I left fát & happy. This place and itz people are wonderful. If you're in the area, go - and if you're not in the area, make the trip. (Also well worth visiting during the normal morning/early afternoon hours for the standard Polish fare. Seriously, just go here.)

Not good. The food was terrible. The sausage gravy was not made with ground sausage, but chopped up cheap sausage patties. The home fries were too big to eat in one bite. The corned beef hash was canned and undercooked. The fruit in the fruit bowl was brusied and unfresh. Coffee was bad also. The pancakes were the only thing I ate, and those are not served even served with syrup. It was extra $ for every topping on them. And we paid over $25 person. Not worth it. We won't be coming back. The atmosphere was uncomfortable. A woman with a very loud voice was charing around the restaurant with a screaming toddler, dragging furniture around, and being a general distraction.

We were seated quickly and brought our coffee and water by a pleasant server who offered regular cream if we did not want the packaged half and half on the table. The Classic Breakfast was $12. The eggs appear to be smallish judging by the size of the individual fried ones and portion of scrambled eggs. But they were well cooked and enjoyable. The toast was one slice, not the customary two slices served everywhere else I have eaten, and it was served cold and dry. When I asked, I was told that their customers do not like the bread buttered. Packaged butter was provided on the table. The home fries were rather large potato chunks, well cooked with a nice browned exterior but very plain otherwise, with no seasoning of any kind or onions etc. My friend got bacon and was given two thick pieces. I chose sausage patty, and in every other place I have eaten you receive 2 of them. Here you got one and it was also extremely thin, about a quarter of an inch thick so at last half the usual thickness. In summary while I did enjoy aspects of my breakfast, I do feel that there are some shortcomings here as stated, compared to...

I had read about the cafe's opening and when I had a chance to go try it for breakfast I was very excited. Great story about the owners, eager to support local businesses, etc. The headline is it wasn't bad, but also wasn't a great experience.

I ordered eggs, sausage, and hash browns, which came with toast. The eggs and sausage were fine -- sausage a little greasy, but totally fine. The toast was only browned on one side. The hash browns were some sort of frozen premade version shaped into a triangle, sort of like what you would get from McDonald's. But at McDonalds it would be $8 and you'd expect premade, mediocrity. Here, it was $11.

I was intending to order a second drink (my coffee was never refilled, but that was ok because I wanted something different) but the waitress (I think the owner) brought us the check instead.

The food was not particularly appealing and the service, while pleasant, was not really tuned to my needs NOR to driving more revenue for the restaurant. I wanted to be a fan and I wish them well, but definitely would not go out of my way to...
