I really want to like this place. Klamath desperately needs more family friendly restaurants with well executed food and drinks. I'll be back in a few months to see if they are learning and evolving in response comments. If they do, will be in regularly. If they don't, probably won't go back again.
Space: Radically improved with the remodel. Would love to see outdoor games (steel cornhole was in the works outside), TV's for watching sporting events, and outdoor heaters. Current vibe felt like "come eat then please leave" because the bar is tiny and there are no TV's or activities to keep people having out (and drinking). It would be SUPER COOL if they added a little play area for kids on the fenced in patio. Klamath lacks a restaurant with that for families and it could be a game changer.
Menu: Has potential, but execution was poor. The pizza is passable, but nothing special. Klamath doesn't need more pizza places IMO, but the kids liked it and it's easy. Steak salad was WAY overdressed (sent one back bc it was so soggy) but the steak was perfectly cooked. Brussel sprout pear salad was raw shaved brussel sprouts and cold bacon crumbles...might as well be a grocery store bagged salad. Strongly recommend roasting or sauteeing the sprouts lightly, roasting the bacon, and serving it warm with some candied nuts or fried fruit in addition to the cheese.
Beer: It's fine, but nothing stuck out as unique or memorable (we tried 7 beers collectively). Reminded me of beer at the RAM chain, which is not really high praise. Cocktails were ok, not great and don't compete with Nite Owl or BMB locally.
Service: A bit lacking. Server was friendly, but mostly absent. Would love to see every table get water to start without asking (or put cups and pitchers on the tables). I didn't mind online ordering to reduce servers, but one of our entrees was messed up (tried to deliver brussel app instead of salad), which should be less common with electronic orders. Our server never circled back to ask how the food/drinks were, which would seem wise (especially during a soft opening). When we tried to get the overdressed salad remade, it was hard to flag down a server or manager. There didn't seem to be any effort by staff to ask how the experience was or how they can improve, despite the sign on the door that would indicate they are still getting up to speed.
Hoping the management is reading comments and is invested in making this place a thriving fixture in Klamath Falls. Their predecessors struggled with mediocre service and food execution - I am hopeful...
Read moreI wish I could leave less than one star. We researched it, and were looking forward to good food and a flight of local craft beers. Also chose this place for the dog friendly patio. We were set for a lovely evening and in good spirits.
Imagine our dismay when we were coldly informed that the beer sampler was not a flight at all, but a preconfigured array of beers that they couldn't apparently sell by their own merits. The offering included two beers in which we had no interest since I don't like ipas and my friend doesn't like porters. We politely asked to substitute two other house brews, and were flatly denied. The bartender was completely uninterested in the substitution and dismissed our request citing the owner's rule of having a set sampler. She started walking away as I was still talking to her. My friend then went in and tried again, politely and patiently letting them know we would be leaving if we couldn't order what we actually wanted, and was told we could take our business elsewhere, which we did.
If this is the owner's policy, it's inconsistent with every other brewery we have ever been to. We were unimpressed and went on to have a lovely evening at the Garage Taphouse, which was everything Common Block wasn't, good atmosphere and...
Read moreFantastic service, great beer, enjoyable atmosphere. Couldn't say enough about my experience at Common Block Brew.
Food tastes great and served relatively quickly. Good size portions. The kids menu is great with the exception of the kids beverage options (thumbs down on the boxed juice). Kids were really expecting homemade strawberry lemonade. The appetizer for the children is a must and the staff brings it out quickly.
However, the adult beverages tasted great! I would recommend a flight to sample the variety of beers offered here. You can also buy cans to-go. Although the 4 pack cans are already preselected of four of there standard brews. I would suggest to Common Brew to provide more options for the to go cans.
Ample seating areas both inside and outside. There is a cool chill zone up stairs with corn hole. Outside, the brewery even provided a doggie water bowl to keep your four legged friends hydrated.
Awesome staff. Super friendly and knowledgeable of their beers. I liked the openess of the restaurant layout. I noticed kids enjoying the view of the cook staff...
