so first of all, i guess i need to lower my expectations for dining out in this small town, since i have a wealth of sushi experiences to compare this one to. my first recommendation to this establishment is, to clean the menus. if the first item you receive as a customer is filthy, you are off to a bad start. some of the tastes were mediocre at best and while I'm unsure if they are salting the food heavily to hide the age of the product, i would recommend that they consider this during preparation. The eel sauce was less than satisfying and very sadly, really wasn't much different from the soy sauce. when I happened to move the foil from one of the cooked rolls, there was a black hair under the foil, i have blonde hair. I was nearly done with my meal at this point and just decided to finish and leave. I didn't bother to point these things out to the young gentleman that waited on us because i new he didn't put the hair on the plate, it clearly came from the kitchen and if anyone would just look at the menu before they hand it out, then they themselves would realize not to have put it on my table in the first place. It all speaks to a very low level of professionalism and that is what a business should be striving for. I wish i could have awarded a high score, but i think the business should be thankful that i didn't...
Read moreFood is really good, 8/10. Service is terrible. Atmosphere actually isn't bad. Our server was probably one of two staff working at night around 6pm on a Thursday. The other Staff member was likely the cook. We waited to be seated about 20 minutes;10-15 minutes after a couple had left and left a table open. The server was very unprofessional in our brief, 3 or 4 interactions with her. She made a big deal about seeing her own reflection in the mirror while my aunt was ordering, then explaining while mumbling that she didn't like seeing her glasses or something along those lines. When it came time to order, she told us "the wait is going to be about 45 minutes" while again mumbling. We ordered chicken yakisoba and chicken teriyaki.. . Had to tell the server that we would like a glass of water each. Food ended up arriving after about 15 minutes, to our surprise.
It's a shame that the service and business as a whole is so poorly run, because the food is absolutely fantastic. I've lived here the majority of my life and had no clue this place existed for the past (at least) 3 years. No advertising, and inadequate staff will ruin...
Read moreThey have a horrible policy of "first come, first served".. for which they do not take reservations. They insist instead that you wait outside, or be lucky enough to get there when they have an open table. Should you be fortunate enough to get a table, the food is pretty good. What is unfortunate is that the service is horrible!!! I cannot tell you how many times we sat there waiting to place our order while the incompetent waitress passed us by to clear a table. She should have grabbed a bussing tray and cleared the table for four in one go.. not 5 rounds of grabbing a few items at a time. I would have fired her for laziness and incompetence many times over. Also, no less than 6 other guests arrived and left while we were seated because she had the worst customer service I've seen in a long time. The food was honestly a 4star.. the service a 1star.. but service is king in a restaurant so I rate them as a 2 star overall. Fire her, change your policy to take reservations by phone or walk-in, and it will improve...
