UPDATE: So I returned to see if there was an improvement. Unfortunately, I have to say I was disappointed. Per my original review below, I was excited to receive the charcuterie plate. This time - NO PLATE. Not sure if they just forgot or what. I ordered onion rings, a cocktail (which they don't have any signature drinks, so you'll just have to ask for your favorite) and water - along with dinner and desert. I finished my water pretty quickly, but it took 20 minutes for it to be refilled. It was well over an hour since ordering, and hadn't received my complete meal yet. It ended up being close to 90 min. I'm a fan of music playing in the bar area. Most of the time ( maybe an hour ) it has been just silent. Then one of the staff started a Blake Shelton disc. I like Blake, but to listen to the same artist's entire album seems a little much. The Ribeye was good. The steak knife was wood and the blade was loose inside the handle. Maybe time to replace it. The lava cake was a ring with the center filled with chocolate. Typically, it's filling inside of cake, so a little different. Still tasty. Overall, I would say if you want to spend an evening eating dinner, don't mine having to ask for service or at least risk having one that is attentive and don't care what background music is playing, you will not be disappointed. Roosters just isn't a good fit for me. If you do go, the Ribeye was better than the Halibut. Updated my stars down to reflect this most recent visit. It was a different server today than last visit.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: The first thing to notice was the charcuterie plate you receive when seated. It's a nice touch. There was apparently a large group at the restaurant the evening I was dining, so it may not be a fair review for my first visit. I felt like the portion size was good. I chose the Halibut and I was too full for dessert, but I also had coconut shrimp for an appetizer. For me, the shrimp were a little over-cooked. When I try Roosters again, I'll skip that and try one of their desserts. The Halibut seemed a little undercooked and only warm compared to the other food. But, certainly worth another try. The staff seemed very caring...
Read moreAfter a long day of Jeeping in the Lassen & Modoc NF, my girlfriend and I stumbled upon Roosters Steak & Chop House, and it turned out to be a wonderful find. Despite arriving without reservations after 7PM, the friendly staff was able to seat us promptly, making us feel welcome from the moment we stepped in.
The staff at Roosters Steak & Chop House was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. As we ordered our drinks at the bar, they efficiently prepared them and quickly found us a table. The dining room itself was comfortable and exuded a warm ambiance that added to the overall dining experience.
Our waitress was attentive and took great care of us throughout the meal. I ordered the rib eye special cooked medium rare, accompanied by the Barlee soup and mashed potatoes. While waiting for our meals, we were pleasantly surprised when a plate of cheese, salami, and apple slices was brought to our table. This thoughtful gesture made for a great little snack that perfectly complemented our red wine. During this time, we had the pleasure of engaging in friendly conversation with an older couple celebrating their wedding anniversary, further adding to the enjoyable atmosphere.
After the snack, our waitress presented us with fresh bread and butter. While the bread was delightful, I personally found the sweet butter to be not to my taste. However, this was a minor detail in an otherwise exceptional dining experience.
When our meals arrived, I was delighted by the taste and presentation. The rib eye was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and the accompanying Barlee soup and mashed potatoes were delicious complements. The portion sizes were generous, and while I wanted to savor every bite, I simply couldn't finish the entire meal.
Overall, our experience at Roosters Steak & Chop House was fantastic, and I would eagerly return. The combination of friendly staff, comfortable ambiance, and superb food made for an evening to remember. Whether you're seeking a satisfying steak or simply a delightful dining experience, Roosters Steak & Chop House is a place...
Read moreMet at door by a gentleman dressed in blue jeans and boots, already my kinda place, we were traveling after a long week on a snowy mtn top and certainly weren't dressed for this place, news flash... They didn't care, they welcomed us like we pulled up in a limo... Sat promptly and saw our server in first couple mins... Our server, wished I could remember her name , local gal that moved away for 20+ years and recently moved back... She was fantastic, again, were in semi dirty work clothes, she couldn't care less... Run down of menu and little history and we ordered... She and other staff members checked in quite often, the food was good and the service was great, but on this night there was a couple behind us, she was loud and boasting everything on the sun, I remember telling my guests, she's gonna b trbl... The bill for 2 drinks comes, she passes off 6-7 credit cards, their server was sent off to run these cards that they (my opinion) knew had no balance, I've seen this scam before... Final the server said, catch ya next time and the server paid their bill, huge promises to return with some form of payment (BS, again my opinion)... This server did this with grace and professionalism knowing full and well she was out the money, once this "couple" left, I found this server and handed her $ which covered their tab and a tip... She said it's not that big of a deal, again very humble which I find very attractive in a human! I pushed the issue and she finally accepted... The only people that lost out that night were the scammers, the rest of us got to experience something very cool watching complete strangers show kindness... On the way out the door, ol blue jeans was posted up on a couch I believe, thanked us and sent us on our way.... This wasn't dinner for us, it was a dining experience because it checked a lot of boxes...
