I have tried this place 3 times over the last 5 years. I PROMISED I would never go back about 2 years ago, but someone at work said “give it one more shot, the food is salty, but the wings are still great.” I had a wing craving, so I went for it. NEVER AGAIN.
What I ordered: -2lbs whole wings -10 piece bone-in -Boursin Sliders -BKW chips
I have always been annoyed that they don’t toss their wings in sauce, but that’s how they do it… so fine. I knew that going in.
I called in my order at 6:54pm. They said it would be 20-30 minutes and took my name. When I arrived (7:33pm), the guy at the host stand asked what I needed… I said I have a To-Go order. He directed me to the bar. I went to the bar, where I saw 3 bags of To-Go food ready to go behind the counter. I got waited on about 5 minutes later. The guy couldn’t find my order. He flagged down the original guy from the front and he pulled up my order. Asked for my name, I gave it to him. I paid my bill. He said “your order isn’t ready yet, I’ll go check on it.” Over a 15 minute period, people kept walking up to me asking “do you need something?” I explained I was waiting on a To-Go order. Again, a guy came out and said “it shouldn’t be too long”. Then another man came out to me and asked for the name on the order. He then proceeded to check the bags behind the counter and told me he didn’t see it… it’s 7:55pm at this point. He appears to go to the kitchen to check again. At 8:02pm, the original guy from the host stand comes over again… he says “can I help you? Do you need something?” I said “yes, I paid for my food almost 30 minutes ago… I called it in over an hour ago, where is it?” He then goes over and looks at the SAME bags behind the counter and LAUGHS. He says “I’m sorry, this one is yours, it looks like they got your name wrong.” Then he handed me the bag of cold food that had now been sitting for 40+ minutes. I took the bag and drove home.
The Boursin sliders had about 1tsp of cheese on each of them with slimy greens and a nasty looking tomato. The buns were delicious though. The burgers were SO SALTY. The wings were THICK coated in dry rub to the point that it had to be brushed off…. Honestly, every bit of this meal was so salty, it was almost disgusting. The BKW chips were coated in so much salt that they tasted like pure salt coated potatoes.
I can’t believe this was almost $60 (with a coupon). Do yourself a favor and go to Ingles or Kroger for wings at this point. At least they won’t be cold and a bucket of salt.
Overall, this place seems very poorly run and I will...
Read moreI will start by saying this was our first trip in. We were excited to try as a friend of ours told us about the Farragut location. We found the Farragut location closed (Sunday) however the internet listed a location at Westown mall. Made the drive to westown. We were enthusiastically greeted at the door when we arrived. My wife and I noticed when we walked in the layout of the restaurant was set up in an odd layout. Cabinets in the front door, tables placed with no art, deco or limited signage on the walls. Very plain. The bar area.is much nicer. All TV's were playing either golf or soccer. Lady Vols were playing yet no one thought to change.
Waitress was fantastic and educated us on the menu. I was excited to try the wings as I listen to talk radio and hear advertising talking about how large they are....not the case. Small with little meat. Being new I ordered the wing combo....(5 bone in and 5 boneless) with both being small. Picture Wendy's nuggets. We learned later the larger wings are actually a FULL wing and only available by the pound. Wings I buy at grocery or Costco are larger and meatier.
Wife ordered the wrap and said it was fine. The sauces are the best I have ever had. Wings come out with a dry rub (not a fan) and you are allowed to choose 1 sauce on the side (small amount). You can choose to spend $2.00 for a "flight" of sauces (4 small servings) which we did. Again....the sauces and potato salad are great! Going to try the Farragut location out and I'd the same probably will pass up next time.
Bottom Line: -Small wings overpriced very good service no character Fantastic...
Read moreI went to BKW for the first time the other day with my sister. Let me tell you, it started off not great but I will be a repeat customer again and again…let me tell you why. When we first arrived we were being helped by a newer employee that definitely had some issues, like probably isn’t cut out for serving type issues. My sister and I are both used to working in the service industry so we tried letting it go but this girl was just miserable…to the point we were uncomfortable. On top of poor service and errors, she had a horrible attitude that made us feel guilty for just being there.
We saw another waitress and asked her to come over and requested a manager. (We hate complaining so this was not fun for us). This server (Kayla) was AMAZING. She immediately jumped in, said she would take over and let management know. She fixed everything that was wrong and made us feel so much better. The manager (Tyler) came out and went above and beyond to make sure we were okay… like I’m telling you…these people CARED. The bartender (Madison) even came out and checked on us…we had ordered drinks with our food.
Oh and the food…it was to die for! The chef that day (Daryl) did an amazing job, which was such a relief.
It might not seem like much to some, but the way this crew handled this situation was really appreciated. I have a new baby and never go out, so them turning a bad experience into a fantastic one really made my day.
I highly recommend this place and will be returning as soon as possible. Thank you Kayla, Tyler, Madison, and Daryl! (I hope I spelled all the...
