Captain D's — Restaurant in Knoxville

I drove all the way from Sevierville to eat at Captain D's this evening ( 11-5-23) because it's the closest one to me. First let me say the worker up front was very friendly and she was very attentive to anything I needed.

Once I got to the dining area and was waiting on my food it felt like it was hot enough to roast a turkey in there. This was a sunny, warm day and it was extremely hot and uncomfortable in the dining area. As a matter of fact some older folks sit down next to me and commented to the worker up front about how hot it was in there and she acknowledged and turned the heat down.

This is where things really go downhill. I ordered the Seafood sampler and I got a baked potato for one of my sides which has an up charge of an extra .99. The potato was not white and fresh like a baked potato is supposed to be; it had a brown/yellowish discoloration and it taste like it had been made days beforehand and I am pretty sure it was ( see photo). My fish, chicken, hushpuppies, and okra were all good but the okra also had an up charge of .99 and the portion size was about the size of the palm of my hand. I don't mind paying extra for sides but at least give me a good portion and a fresh baked potato. I honestly can't believe the cook that served that potato to me could not see how discolored and nasty that potato was. I guess they don't care anymore. My meal was right at $20; for that price I should have just went to red lobster and paid a little more and got better food. I will not be returning to this...

Still no refund, nov 1stWaisted over an hour, if your over 30mins in returning the food they can't refund you. which I got back in line.With all that half the order was missing all I got was burned up fish, as you can see I ordered alot more..They can not refund you.it has been 3 weeks I got a reply from a manager for a full refund. I get to the restaurant they want to remake me the order. I dont want the food I didn't want the first time🤨. I have had to send a bunch of personal info to a corporate web page. It's been three weeks, not days and one email back. I have called corporate the number given was invalid. When I Googled the actual number I was abel to leave messages. Still no other response than to my reviews.🤔 I have never had such a hard time just getting a refund in my life. When it was there mistake from the beginning I paid for my food and their 30 minimum refund window expired before I got to see the last window. I was patient even telling the cashier to tell the other customers behind me I was a crazy coupon lady to take some of the heat off. All I want is my refund and to never have to deal with this place again.I pity the workers because this isn't any way to run...

The Captain D's on Chapman Highway was a great treat! My mother has a limited diet and it is sometimes hard to find fast food that she can eat and enjoy. While not technically "fast food" the order was made fresh and I did not mind the few minutes extra wait time for the extremely fresh seafood.

Now, let's talk about the food. I ordered the 3pc battered fish with green beans, slaw, and hushpuppies. The food was on point and delicious! The fish was fork-flacky, the green beans were seasoned really well, and the cole slaw was better than KFC's...almost as good as homemade coleslaw. If I had to use one word, I would say my meal was, "Scrumptious!"

My mother had the blackened tilapia on a bed of rice, with a side of broccoli and coleslaw. She truly enjoyed hers meal. Most importantly, we've found another restaurant that will work within her restricted diet. They have several menu items that will work for her. That's always a plus!!

This was our first time ordering from Captain D's and it will not be our last. Both of us enjoyed the experience and we will be ordering from Captain D's again. Hopefully sooner...
