Firehouse Subs Clinton Hwy — Restaurant in Knoxville

I normally go to the location in Fountain City, since I was out near Clinton Hwy, I went to this location. Boy was I disappointed! There was only one person that ordered a single sandwich in front of me yet I waited nearly 20 minutes for my food. I only ordered a kids turkey sandwich with nothing but lettuce and a small hook and ladder fully involved, easy in the mayo, and a cup of mac and cheese. There was a young man doing something with the sandwich boxes that was asked to help prepare the food, the fact that his name had to be called 3 times alone because he was too busy listening to something in his ear phones was already a bad sign. The other issue is that his hair almost completely covered his face and no effort was made to at least push it back and net it before he stared handling customers food and no other staff suggested it to him. And to seal me not wanting to come back to this location, when I got home my hook and ladder had nothing but meat, cheese and what I am assuming was mayo. As stated earlier, boy was I...

I have a gluten allergy, if my food is cross contaminated at all I can get sick. It's very easy to avoid cross contamination if someone is willing to care. I went into the Clinton Hwy location to order a gluten free sandwich and requested that they use clean gloves and a clean surface to make it. They were rude and said they'd have just one person make it but it was guaranteed to be cross contaminated. I do understand that they state on their menu that there is a risk, as any restaurant does to avoid legal issues. However both the Sevier co and Morristown locations are able to accommodate my request with no problem and I have not gotten sick from them. I left the Clinton Hwy location with no food at all. Normally the food is always exceptional. No difference this time. However, there has been an issue with this locations recent manager. She discusses politics and business information at almost megaphone loudness levels. I should not know as a customer trying to have a quiet lunch, how you feel about the franchise owner making their teenage daughter a gm. I’m there for a sandwich and I can tell you details about the franchise owners family….and where they work. The poor young people that worked there looked mortified btw and were super friendly. It’s just whatever manager was there today on 8/6/24. She was insufferable and loud. When I called back and politely asked for the franchise owners info she took down my info but when she realized it was in regards to her she hung up on me. Would go again but would be weary of an employee who trashed the business...
