Panda Garden — Restaurant in Knoxville

I thought that the McDonald's on Broadway in Knoxville was the worst. Now Panda Garden on Callahan is a close competitor.

My family ended up at Panda Garden on 1/30/2022 because every other restaurant in the Callahan/Clinton Highway area was slammed. Now I know why we were the only ones there. Their food is mediocre at best, and their customer service is right up there with the worst I have ever experienced.

They use a speaker system through a plexiglass barrier which is very impersonal. They did not greet us when we approached. We repeated our order several times. The woman who took our order frequently interrupted us. The cost was ridiculous considering we didn't order that much.

After they had prepared the food, they stacked everything up high on a single tray. My husband had to go get our tray and perform a balancing act to get everything to our table without dropping anything.

Both things that I ordered were wrong. I ordered PLAIN lo mein. I was very clear in telling them that I do not eat meat and do not like vegetables. I also said that I wanted plain white rice. Again, I requested no meat and no vegetables. I ended up with lo mein AND rice completely covered with vegetables. I decided that I would save the rice for my mom, but I took my lo mein up to have it replaced. I reiterated what I had ordered. I did not get an apology or even a statement that they would fix my food. Instead, I got a mean look and an attitude.

After I sat back down, my husband commented that two egg rolls were missing from the order. He went back up to ask for the egg rolls. A woman tried to say that we didn't pay for them. He told her that two of the meals came with an egg roll (each). That's what the menu says, AND that's what the woman who took our order said. One of the women followed my husband to inspect our table and our food. (Seriously.) She continued to argue. She finally gave my husband one egg roll - not the two that we were supposed to get. She also brought a corrected order of lo mein. She plopped it on the table (the opposite side from where I was sitting) and just walked off. The lo mein was NOT good. We never did receive an apology - just bad attitudes.

Listen, my husband and I have made it to our early 40s without a criminal record. Neither of us has even had a speeding ticket in over 20 years. Do you really think that we would start a life of crime by stealing egg rolls?! COME ON!

Panda Garden make DoorDash Delivery Dasher Driver to fill the drink for the customers instead of them filling the drink for the customers. Because is their responsibility for prepares for the items/orders at their store or restaurants. I asked a clerk if she can fill the 2 cups of Sprite for me because I am helping my mom working with DoorDash and females clerk was very rude and disrespectful and unprofessional of helping the customers out and not is not customer services at all. That is just making a DoorDash or delivery driver complicated for their job is their responsibility to prepare and cook a customer food and preparing the drink because it’s against DoorDash policy.. because there’s not a Dasher job to fill the Customer drink at the restaurant or fast food places. I would never accept any order or pick up any orders while I help my parents DoorDash. If they continue making a DoorDasher delivery driver filling up to drink and said they instead of them doing it. If I would dare buy my own food, I will fill up my own drink but I’m not. I am going there to pick up somebody order from DoorDash and get it delivered to the customer. On Christmas day, Holy hell I am the type of person up quick to come to review a place for bad everything but this place made me say OMG I am giving this place a positive review.

While waiting as a first time guest for my food I decided to read it's reviews. My answer to the owner the lack of smiling faces is truly a cultural difference. This man wants to sell fresh hot food done correctly and that is sold at a decent rate. He doesn't have time for BS and he just wants to get the job done and get it done well is my take on the owner. Food was super fresh and egg roll was crisp out the fryer.

I give this place a thumbs-up. I am so glad it's right up the road from my house

Furthermore I seriously want to add that after trying that hot fresh egg roll. I ate the whole meal which was intended for home.

The today's special was $7.50. it came with a huge serving of fresh fried shrimp. A more huge serving of BBQ pork. The freshest eggroll I've had in I don't know how long. I spent $0.80 extra for a can of Coke. Well worth it.

I will bash a company for its errors but this one must be praised for it...
