I stopped by from out of town and boy did I find a genuinely amazing place. The homemade biscuits are amazing, pure weighty flaky buttery goodness. The flavor somewhere between buttery and savory combining into a crescendo of bliss with every fork full. The homemade gravy a beautiful lighter brown, not a bit of white in color like the packaged stuff, you could tell it contained the good stuff from cooking the sausage. Very hearty and filling with the right amount of fresh pepper. But that wasn’t all, they even have the best fresh made ( literally right in front of you) orange juice. It could not possibly get any better …. Or could it?. Indeed it does. The atmosphere was very rustic/ modern and there was plenty of room both inside and outside to sit. If I lived in the area I would be on that patio drinking the oj by the gallon it was that good. I haven’t had that good of oj since I visited the Tropicana factory in Florida. The staff made me feel right at home. Very warm, very hospitable, and just add that joy to the whole place and experience . I would smile big if I worked there too, it’s that good. Their chef is amazing cooking everything perfectly. Great care taken in the flavor profiles of each dish that was served. I will be back to eat more than likely a few more mornings while I am here. If you are in the Knoxville area and even if you are not, a trip to maple street biscuit company is a must. You will leave fuller and more satisfied than you would at most other breakfast establishment’s. Literally they are way above the competition. Even the manager made sure we were taken care of. To have someone that actually cares about the business that much is rare in the industry and was a welcome edition to the experience. One taste and I guarantee it will be your favorite too, as it has become mine. I do not hand out reviews lightly but I am extremely proud to do this one. Take it from me a well traveled out of towner that’s had many breakfasts in many places. This place is worth your money and time. ...
Read moreLunch at Maple Street Biscuit Co. today. Homemade potato chips drizzled with maple syrup...savory and tasty. Chicken strips nicely fried, were tender and flavorful. Came with a biscuit. I think they should take "Biscuit" out of their name. They don't have clue on how to make fresh biscuits. Suggestion: Hire someone from Hardee's or Bojangles to make your biscuits... Your biscuits are an embarrassment. TRY THIS ONE.... Perfect Homemade Biscuits These easy, homemade biscuits are soft, fluffy, made completely from scratch and can be on your table in about 15 minutes! Ingredients 3 cups all-purpose flour 3 tbsp sugar 1/2 tsp salt 4 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp cream of tartar 3/4 cup COLD butter 1 egg 1 cup whole milk Instructions Preheat oven to 450 degrees. The secret to excellent biscuits is COLD BUTTER. Really cold. Many times the biscuit dough gets worked so much that the butter softens before the biscuits even go in the oven. Try cutting the butter into small pieces and stick back in the fridge pulling out only when ready to incorporate into the dough. Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Use a pastry cutter to cut cold butter into flour mixture. Don't go too crazy here - you want to see small, pea-sized pieces of butter throughout the dough. Add in the milk and egg and mix just until the ingredients are combined. The dough will be sticky but don't keep working it. You should be able to see the butter pieces in the dough. Turn the dough out onto a generously floured surface. Sprinkle some flour on to the top of dough so it won't stick to your fingers and knead 10-15 times. If the dough is super sticky just sprinkle on some additional flour. Pat the dough out to 3/4 - 1 inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter or glass. I ended up with nine this time but depending on who is snacking on biscuit dough, I can get up to 12 biscuits. Place the biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet or parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden...
Read moreToday my party of two ordered biscuits and gravy at 12. Apparently they had some technology issues, which is totally understandable, so they didn't have our food at 12:20. When I walked back to the counter at 12:30 to ask where our food was, I saw our order sitting on the counter, cold, after they neglected to call our order. I asked if they could microwave it for us, and they said they couldn't and it'd be easier to make a new one. Ten minutes later (for a sliced biscuit topped with gravy!?!) the manager brought me the scalding hot biscuit that she then spilled all over me, burning my hands and legs. She profusely apologized, and I imagined how mortified I would be if this happened to me and tried to move on. She left, and no one else came to help clean me or the spot up, instead by companion cleaned everything up. I then asked for the same, very simple, order to go. After waiting yet another ten minutes and being at the point where we just wanted to leave, we finally heard the manager ask someone to put a biscuit in a box for me. We were offered a gift card in hopes of giving them another shot (it's gonna make a great Christmas gift for my least favorite relative), but never offered a snack to tide us over or a decent explanation. The gift card didn't even cover the cost of what we payed for our overpriced biscuits. Most importantly, they couldn't offer merely acceptable service or food, because my companion's sandwich was meager and sad ($6 for a tiny biscuit hastely stuffed with with willed spinach and goats cheese) and her chai latte was pure steamed milk. Even if the food was good it wasn't worth an hour, the burns, and the guilt I felt about being made to feel like an...
