The Parkside Grill seemed like a run-of-the-mill restaurant, with your standard fare. However, upon entering, I was immediately impressed with the staff. They were friendly and attentive, engaging and considerate. This should be the standard when dining out, though it is more and more not. Pleased at the service so far, I was honestly resigned to that aforementioned fare, but it was anything but!
I don't know if it was the weather or what, but I feel like if it was a little warmer it would have been perfect, but as it stood, the pimento cheese, with carmelized red onion jam and toast points (toast tips?) was a delicious appetizer! Next, was my main course of Grilled Cilantro-Lime Chicken with shitake mushroom rice pilaf and steamed broccoli. As you can see from the picture, it was beautifully prepared and it was perfection. I have never in my life eaten a piece of chicken so expertly prepared on the grill. It was flavorful and juicy, and came to the table very quickly. The rice pilaf was amazing as well... if you've ever had rice pilaf that is partially cooked, then you know how annoying those crunchy bits are when you're eating them. The broccoli was also great! Seasoned well and not overcooked, it went well with everything. The reason I am giving five stars is for the chicken breast alone. I wish I could give 5 stars for the two sides AND another 5 for the service.
The only thing I saw that needed improving was the fish tacos my girlfriend ordered. They tasted good, but the combo of slaw and pico de gallo made them too wet, hence very messy. My girlfriend ended up just eating the innards of the 2nd taco with a fork. With some tweaking to the slaw, perhaps doubling up and grilling fresh tortillas shells, and some work on the fish, I think this would be just as amazing as everything else!
Keep it up folks, you're doing...
Read moreMy wife and I went into this place last night around 5. We were sat promtly. Once we were greeted, our order was taken and drinks promplty showed up. I will note the carpet had a considerable amount of food fall out on the floor in multiple places and the staff just walked around it like its not my problem. It wasnt long after our dinner order showed up. To clarify we ordered two appetizers. Mine the quesadilla were good. My wife's ordered the nachos. She orders them everywhere as they are her favorite. She dug in and quickly I realized something was wrong. It appeared they accidentally put marinara sauce on the nachos. I verified the taste and confirmed. Well my wife just chaulked it up to not reading the menu. Anyways so I go and get menu it doesnt state marinara as a ingredent. So I ask the waitress and she said no they dont include marinara. So she takes it back and a few moments later a what I can assume is a manager of some sort comes out doesnt really say who she is and basically told us we were wrong. I could tell she wanted to fight so I just said take it off bill and we will be done. Simple didnt raise my voice or anything. This manager proceeded to tell us we were wrong a couple more times. I again at this point stated I would like it removed and the check. I will chaulk it up to her having a bad day. However 1st and last time we will step foot into this resturant. Way too many options in Knoxville to ever go back and be...
Read moreMy significant other and I decided to try this place for dinner during their Burger Monday special. She opted for their sirloin, and I chose the Turkey Burger.
The bread that was brought out was very soft and had good flavor. Service throughout our experience was good. Our entrees were of very poor quality though.
To start, the sirloin steak, which was ordered at medium rare, came out with steam pouring off from the steak. It was cooked 'correctly'; however, the steak itself lacked any flavor, and it was quite apparent that the steak was microwaved for our order. The texture was subpar, and, again, lacked any distinct flavor.
My 'ground turkey patty' also appeared to be of at least frozen quality, and lacked a distinct flavor. The toppings on my turkey burger did make it palatable, with the pico and chipotle sauce complimenting each other well.
I was very disappointed to discover that the 'Burger Night" specials only applied to a regular cheeseburger, and not their Turkey Burger. The discounted price would have be fair for my quality of burger. However, paying full price was not worth it.
In summary, my partner and I will not be returning following our very lackluster experience here. At least her half eaten sirloin will make a fine dinner for our dog. If you're considering this restaurant for steak, then a generic steak house will serve you better than...
