McDonald's — Restaurant in Knoxville

SUBJECT: Unacceptable Behavior by a McDonald’s Employee at the Service Window at your location, 9501 Kingston Pike

Within the last hour I went to this location to order a meal. When I pulled up to the window to pay, I handed the clerk 7 dollars and a quarter for a bill that was 7. 05.

After I put my wallet away, I looked at the clerk who told me that I didn’t provide enough money. I said I provided 7 and a quarter, and he said, “Where is it?” I said I did not know what he did with it, but I handed him 7 and a quarter. He said I did not. I reached back in the bottom of my purse and said that I did not want to be accused of trying to get something without paying for it.

As I was pulling out another quarter, he said, just forget about it and I said no and that I was paying for it. He knew I was in the process of handing him another quarter. However, he then quickly closed the window. I tossed the quarter on the sill and started to pull up to the delivery window because I was upset that 1) he accused me of not giving enough money, 2) he knowingly closed the window on me when he knew I was in the process of providing another quarter. I want to emphasize that he was not being kind or genuine in his desire to resolve the issue.

As soon as I did, I could hear him yelling and he proceeded to the pick-up window and I could hear him the entire time yelling. I could not really hear what he was yelling up to that time, but I did hear him as he said from the pickup window, “You’re not doing that! You are messing with the wrong person!” I was shocked, to say the least. The young lady who handed me my meal said time, “I’m sorry about that.”

I have been here countless times since October. I almost always come in the morning. The people are friendly. It's never crowded. Even the times I've stopped by in the afternoon it's very quick to get food. I use this place as a mobile office so I'm always here at least an hour. For my needs this place is a gem. The wifi is decent, too. The couple of times I've used the drive through, it's really quick. The service is excellent. I order my food and go to get my drink. Before I'm even seated they're bringing me my food most times. Don't believe the poor reviews. If you like McDonald's and want a well kept secret of a place definitely come to this one. Lastly, I've been to the other McDonalds near this one, like the one on Cedar Bluff and others. This one is cleaner, friendlier by far and even the customers are always nice to each other. This McDonald's is less than 5 minutes from my house, so we go about 1x a month. My kids love their dipped cones and fruit smoothies. Unfortunately, the service and quality of food has steadily declined. One of the last times I was there I thanked the woman at the drive thru 3 different times when she handed me stuff and I received absolutely no response. In fact, she did not even speak when I pulled up to the window. My husband and daughter were there about a month ago and waited 20 minutes for a dipped cone. The employee finally handed them a melted cone and said the machine was not cold enough. No apology and no refund of their money. My son wanted me to bring him McDonald's today at school for lunch, so I tried one more time. The burger was cold and the bread tasted old. French fries were also cold.
