Order Up Cafe — Restaurant in Knoxville

11/18/24 - Today was my court date for my speeding ticket on I-75. The cop didn't show up, so I was feeling ravenous after a private celebration. It's 10 a.m., and the closest place open, and near the courthouse was the Order Up Cafe.

If you're looking for a fast hot meal without the price gouging or fancy plates, this is the place. The cashier tells me they recently started catering to the courthouse staff & local jail, which is proof enough of their speed.

Seating very limited inside, maybe to a dozen people-- but ample outside the plaza. As of today, their restrooms are private, and you will have to ask for a key, due to the loitering around town

I got their special: the hashbrown scramble, hot, quick & filling without fancy seasonings and tossed in a cardboard recyclable container. You'll need some ketchup, mustard, or dip if you have a sophisticated palate.

The cafe is inside the First Horizon Plaza, from the upper side. The plaza can not be accessed by the parking garage on this corner; you must come from the South Gay or the Courthouse. I gave the restaurant a 3-star rating overall. The breakfast was okay, but I was really put off by the service. When I went to pick up my food, the person handling the strawberries was using their bare hands. That's a major health code violation! They basically threw my food at me and didn't even say 'have a nice day.' I hope the restaurant can address this...
