This was the most frustrating experience I can remember having at any McDonald’s. I ordered on the app and went through the drive-through, and didn’t experience issues until it became time to receive the food. Upon getting to the second window, the employee practically shoved a completely incorrect order into our car, barely looking at us as he told us to have a good day. We stayed at the window and informed him this was not our order. He told us to pull into a designated Drive Through lot, and took the incorrect order back. We learned that he then tried to serve this incorrect order to another person even after we touched this food.
We waited for some time in the designated lot, only for the next employee to once again try to serve us an incorrect order. They went back inside the restaurant, presumably to find out what was going on. We decided to go into the restaurant ourselves to speed things along. Upon coming in, they tried once again to serve us a third incorrect order. All three of these times, it was not minor differences - these were clearly orders meant for other guests, not matching our receipt whatsoever.
Eventually we did receive the order on their fourth attempt. It was extremely unsatisfying to have to go through so many hoops for what was a fairly simple order (Egg McMuffin meal with two cookies, a medium frappe and a large mocha). What was even more frustrating was that there seemed to be a language barrier between us and the McDonald’s staff, who were communicating with each other and with other guests in mostly Spanish, while we only spoke English. This didn’t make sense to us as we live in an area that predominantly speaks English - this type of communication disconnect surely made this cascading number of errors even worse, because the staff was not willing or able to communicate with customers in a language they could understand.
Moreover, once we finally received the order, there was a minor problem with it (missing a drizzle on the frappe), but by that point we had finally left the restaurant and didn’t want to make the effort to return just for the caramel sauce.
All in all, this was such an unacceptably bad experience over something that should have been so simple, and has indeed been simple at other McDonalds locations. The fact that it wasn’t just our experience that was bad, but was leading to confusion and frustration with other guests as well, tells me that this needs to be addressed with the staff in question so that this issue doesn’t happen as consistently again. We drove around, waited 5 minutes... came back in the line and then they proceeded to say it was still 2 min before 11, so I would have to wait... Then someone else spoke and said 'no', we can order now, it just won't get cooked until after 11..keep in mind by now it's 11:03... No biggie. I say, no problem and I order. They tell me to pull around and food would be out as soon as possible. I park and wait another few min...again, no biggie. Here is the rub...
....clearly aggravated girl comes out and hands bag of food to me and rolls her eyes and says in a super annoyed voice that I was suppose to just pull up to the 3rd window and wait. Surprised I say sorry and explained that they told me to just pull around. She then says, 'yeah up front (I parked on side of establishment) or the 3rd window' and rolls her eyes again and walks off. They substituted four small disheveled looking shamrock shamrock shakes for the one large chocolate shake and 2 large shamrock shakes. BTW my poor husband hates mint so no chocolate for him! Everytime I have ever tried to order a shake from this store they say their shake machine is down but I thought I would take a chance since the shamrock is a special going on and you would think that their shake machine would be operating. To add insult to injury forgot to add my son's value meal, and got his girlfriends drink wrong. I had to send him back to the store to get his meal so the whole thing ended up costing me much more than I expected and our food was stone cold. Tried to go to the corporate sight to complain but not user friendly so I guess I have to wait until Monday to call them to complain since the phone number is not open until then. What a huge disappointment! I guess when you are the only McDonalds in town you don't have to worry about providing good customer service!
