In one word DAMN! I am almost afraid to write this review because I don’t really want more people to discover this gem and make the wait for incredible food longer. But this place deserves ALL the business they can handle so here it is… The GREAT: I ordered the green curry with chicken and oh boy was it delicious. The sauce was creamy and had just the right amount of spice. The heat came on quickly and almost made me wonder if I’d be able to eat it. However, it leveled out and while my mouth was tingling and my lips burning a bit, I was able to power through to enjoy the deliciousness. Honestly I wouldn’t change the spice level at all. I’m a total light weight. I also enjoyed a Thai tea and it was amazing as well.
The staff was kind, responsive and eager to have my patronage. They had a server out front of the food truck on their welcoming deck surrounded by plants and shade devices. She took my order and payment and ,you can pay with card or cash.
I came through at maybe 3:30pm and only waited maybe 8-10 minutes for my food.
My suggestions for improvement: I would love to see the chicken cut slightly smaller so it would be easier to eat on the go.
Accessibility wise: the window and deck to view the menu has two steps to get up to the platform. There is not a ramp and a wheelchair user would not be able to access the window to order. With that said, they did have a server out front to be able to take a wheelchair user’s order. I’m certain this incredible restaurant on wheels will build a ramp when the budget allows and is offering a way to serve the disabled community in the meantime.
Overall, I give this place 5 stars! You need to be a bit patient while they get through their opening month. I hope their patrons treat these folks with the respect and kindness they deserve. I worked in the restaurant industry for 15 years and have been part of 3 opens. These peeps are killing it so far and I’m excited to have a genuine and tasty food option in Kuna.
Keep up the hard work...
Read moreSeriously AMAZING. Some of the best Thai food in the valley, if not the very best! Pros: -AMAZING food. Seriously, so, so good. I got the pad woon sen with chicken and the blend of flavors was perfect, the noodles and chicken perfectly cooked. -good prices and generous helpings (including plenty of chicken) -authentic! The chefs are from Thailand and you can taste it! -easy to order online, even with no fees from Toast! -done when they said it would be done! Cons: -No product descriptions. If you aren't familiar with a lot of Thai dishes, you'll have to look up what each dish is like for yourself. -No spice level customization. I imagine I could ask for higher or lower spice, but without knowing the baseline, or knowing if that was even possible, I didn't. The spice level was still good for me with this dish, but Thai food is usually spicy so it was a little nerve-wracking not knowing how hot it was going to be until I tasted it! -Delivery is very slow. We live less than 2 miles away but the delivery window was over an hour! Toast doesn't have fees so I guess you get what you pay for, but we opted to pick it up ourselves because we didn't want to wait that long. -not all ordering options are listed from their website. I don't mean the menu, but when I got there, there was a sign saying "door dash pickup here." If I had known Door Dash was an option (as I'm sure it would be faster), I would have picked that, but it wasn't listed online. Of course, I had to go with what Google told me, as the restaurant doesn't have a real website yet, just a facebook page.
Overall, highly recommended and I hope the cons from the online ordering process will be ironed out once they are better established. The food is the most important thing, and they...
Read moreLots of good reviews, so not sure if this is an anomaly, but our meals were pretty poor. First, I ordered to go, and they didn't get the pot stickers into the bag and I didn't notice until we got home (not driving back at that point)... Also ordered the "golden triangle" appetizer, which were a bit greasy, but tasty.
The entrees were not great, as the Pad Thai was very sweet and lacked the fresh produce, such as green onions, bean sprouts, etc., that you want with your pad thai... everything was cooked into a soggy/mushy noodle dish. Also, they gave about a half teaspoon of peanut dust, which did next to nothing to help with the mush texture.
We also had the sweat and sour ribs, and they were pretty dried out, and the only way to save them was to drench them in the sauce, but even then, the dryness was evident.
I've eaten at KrungThai, Thai Cuisine, and Pad Thai House in the Boise area, and this was not even close to the quality of those restaurants. One could say, "yeah, but it's a food truck, what do you expect?" Well, some of the best food I've had has been from food trucks, but Tasty Thai was just not very good.
I will say that the team working in the truck were friendly and very nice, so I wish the food had lived up to the level of their service (forgotten pot stickers was honest mistake, so won't hold that against them.
Bottom line, based on what we just ate from Tasty Thai, I would say that if you know good Thai food, you will definitely be disappointed.
Sorry Tasty Thai crew, I really wanted to like your food, but it wasn't very good (Two stars for the...
