My kid had seen a commercial for their new Parm pizza. He wanted to order it. It had been a hot minute since I had ordered Papa Johns and figured I would give them another shot. I downloaded their app and signed up for their rewards program. The ordering on the app was easy. I ordered two speciality pizza's. There was a discount code I used for 25% off. I did find that even with the discount code, the two pizzas were almost $40. I thought that was a tad bit over priced.
When you order the speciality pizzas, it would be nice if you could order the type of crust you would like. Papa John's crusts are too "doughy" and lack any flavor. I would have preferred a thinner crust.
In looking at these other reviews who gave this place 1 star's, perhaps you should have driven in to pick your pizza up, instead of having it delivered. If you have it delivered, there are things that can go wrong. If you live so close, stop being lazy and drive your happy self over to pick it up, instead of whining about how the delivery sucked.
I was surprised that the pizza was going to take over 30 minutes. All of the other pizza competitors are way faster than Papa John's. I drive over to pick my pizzas up. I did notice that no one in the store was wearing hairnets or gloves. There was also bins of raw pizza dough sitting out uncovered. The manager who rang me up was covered in flour and looked like she was not sure if she was coming or going. I have seen other pizza joints way busier and better equipped. I did get my pizza and went home.
The Parm pizza had a good flavor for it. The crust was crisp and the sauce was flavorful. The stuff crust pizza I had was good. The toppings were nicely sliced and not "soggy" as some pizza places have them when they cook the pizza.
I would have rated them much higher, but after seeing the mess the store was in, the uncovered dough and lack of safely procedures, I took them down a notch. Papa John's is ok in a pinch. If I wanted that much bread, I would have ordered a sandwich. To the reviewers to gave this place 1 star, you guys need a get a clue as you sound like...
Read moreUPDATE: This updated review is way past due, this was from March 6, 2020. Papa John's came through in a HUGE way for our company..... With less than 24 hours notice they were able to deliver over 200 pizzas for all of our employees on 3 different shifts in one day! We were really impressed with them being able to accommodate us on such short notice and get them done.
Papa John's in Kyle was able to save our lunch meeting since the San Marcos location cancelled our order with 30 minutes notice! I spoke to Darin the manager, told him what happened, they got 8 pizza's ready at the last minute and sent David out to deliver them in a hurry! They jumped into action and got the job done and I will encourage all 500 of our employees to order from them!!! Thank you PAPA JOHN'S KYLE!!!!
I called my order into the San Marcos location the night before since I knew I'd have a busy morning. They pulled up my phone number, asked if they were delivering to our company address, I confirmed, they took my order and processed my credit card. I even called this morning at 10am to RECONFIRM our delivery order and asked if they could bring it close to 12 so it would be hot. They confirmed the order again.......
At 11:22 they called to tell me they couldn't deliver to our address because we were outside of their delivery area! They are 2 miles further than the Kyle location.... Not impressed how they left us hanging at the last minute and cancelled our order without making an exception for their error!! Poor management!
Thankful Papa John's Kyle saved me a...
Read moreDon't get me wrong I LOVE the pizza. My issue was with delivery. My food was ordered and delivered as normal everything was great. Then 30 minutes there was a loud knocking on the door.
The driver (Zack) returned to tell me that we shorted him a $1 He claimed we gave him $14 instead of $19 (saying we shorted him and implying that we did not tip) I am very sure I handed him $19 for one simple fact. I originally had $18.00 cash for the order of $14.35 so my husband and I then spent 10 minutes looking for an extra $1 to add for a total of $19 cash and asked for no change.
The location normally had amazing service and food, so we searched for that extra dollar to make sure the driver received $4.65 tip. I told him he was incorrect, yet gave him the $1 he was asking for.
When I called the store to complain because he was very rude, the manager stated that it was odd because Zack was sent home for the night, and we have not heard back from the location.
So sadly, we no longer order Papa Johns from...
