Marieta's — Restaurant in La Mesa

This was my 3rd and final trip to this horrible excuse for a restaurant. I went 2 other time and received poor service and mediocre food, I really don’t see why the locals go there when the alway Great Casa de Pico is just down the street (on went there tonight decause my nephew wanted to go). The place is horrible noises, has spots of paint and plaster chipping away from the ceiling, our server took about 30 minutes before ever coming to take our order ( there was 12 of us) and we needed 3 separate checks, which he didn’t want to do but he did eventually do, about another 15 minutes to take our orders even though we all knew what we wanted, having had 30 minutes waiting and looking at the menu. Well 2 of us got our food in about 15 minute , 6 more 15 minutes later (3 of those was 1 order of chicken and fires, for 3 small kids), 45 minutes later 3 of us still didn’t have food ( and my sister was only having a bowl of soup). The whole time water and salsa never got refilled, the waiter never checked back on us, we went to the owner and couldn’t care less, never even said sorry or tried to make it right. We ended up cancelling the last 3 orders and asked for the check, another 20 minutes for that, still no apologies from anybody. Again I really cant understand why the locals go there, they obviously don’t have a clue what decent service is like. I’m sure they figure they’re busy enough to offend a few tables each night, none of us will ever do going to Marietas ever again and we all work with the public and will be sharing our Truely horrible evening...

I had been going to Marietas since I was a kid. I have great memories of it. But yesterday (9/11/23) was my first time in a long time being there and it was the WORST experience ever. First, I went to the bathroom and it’s a small single bathroom where the sink is right next to the door and had the stall in the back with its own door. So anyone can walk in while you’re washing your hands. Well it’s so close to the door that I got hit by another patron wanting to use the restroom. Second, The server spilt some kind of bean juice on my 16 month old daughters leg. Luckily it wasn’t burning hot and it didn’t burn her BUT the server didn’t even apologize. He didn’t even hand my mom any napkins to help her clean my daughter up. He looked more annoyed by my mom asking for napkins. 3rd, the server was not very attentive to our table. Again, he just didn’t look happy being there or like it was such a hassle serving us. I had to get up to ask for extra napkins and limes for my dad (we got lemons and weren’t made aware that that’s all they had it would’ve been common courtesy to tell us that’s all they have and we would’ve been ok with it). 4th, I ended up telling the manager about the incidents and he did nothing not even an apology for my the spill on my daughter. Which could’ve been worse if he had spilled something hot on her since our plates were all burning hot. I do NOT recommend this place anymore. They had about 4 tables of about 3 to 5 ppl per table so there was no reason to not be attentive to...

Warning! Worst Mexican food and customer service ever!! Do yourself a favor and get Taco Bell. Here's my experience...I ordered Pepsi for myself, it was flat and watered down but I said nothing and I sipped it. Then I ordered a combo plate that came out so hot that everything became like soup on my plate. Tried the rice and it was watery. Ok, that's enough for me so sent I it back because the entire plate was wet, like a frozen meal would be. I asked for the check after my 8 year old son finished his kids burrito that was much smaller than a burrito from taco bell(Not kidding). After he finished I requested that I wouldn't be charged for my plate since I had one bite. The worst part of this was being confronted by the owner demanding in a hostile tone that all the food was perfect. I said no actually the plate was too hot, the rice is wet , Pepsi was flat. I also added, I won't be back since this is how your handling it with confrontation. He yelled at me "no come back , your not welcome here" wow! Seriously? That's real professional, unbelievable I said . I then walked out after paying for my sons meal as he glared at me like a crazed man. Btw, the kids meal is a rip off and dosent include a soda. So, basically I paid for 2 drinks @ $3.50 each and kids meal was like $7.50. I'm pretty sure any other restaurant would handled a returned plate with an apology, or can I male it right. I never complain and write reviews but this had to be done. Anybody know If this place under new ownership...
